All this talk of 'AI won't destroy jobs, it will make work better' is very obvious nonsense.
AGI is, right now, already bridging gaps in technical skills. It is, right now, replacing talented creatives at companies around the world.
Well I think I have said all I want to.
I'm uninstalling this app for at least awhile.
One thing has become clear in this election:
Liberal democracy in the US is very probably finished.
Truth and objective reality are gone.
There are only vibes.
The real fight?
This WAS the real fight.
This fight is over.
The best course of action is to realize we need to regroup, reorganize, and engage at the right moment.
"Deals" & "peace" with Russia & China will be profitable for Trump & his pals, who donโt care about US allies or interests or casting millions into despotism. Ukraine suffers, Europe sleeps. NATO was nearly dead & Trump will finish the job. The real fight starts now. 7/7
Objectively I know I will be fairly insulated from GOP policies
For those of you that voted Republican that WON'T be insulated I hope you get everything you voted for.
And I hope nobody helps you.
We did this.
Voters didn't care.
Democracy in America is likely over.
Everyone better wake the fuck up to that right now.
If Democrats don't win the House majority I'm even more inclined to say it's over.
#8: Demonstrate that Democracy Can Deliver a Better Standard of Living
A lot of data suggests that as actors make the case for democracy, they must tie it to prosperity & inclusive policies that provide opportunities 4 improving well being in areas currently struggling (12/x)
I'll keep repeating it for awhile:
Democrats in Congress MUST NOT try to water down Republican policies for the next 4 years.
They must not draft policy WITH them because it's painfully obvious voters don't care about policy.
They only care about vibes.
Democrats in Congress need to spend the next four years doing one thing:
Protecting democracy.
They should NOT help Republicans with policy.
They should NOT try to tame extreme proposals.
Americans need to experience the full, naked Republican agenda
@johncusack@BernieSanders Trump just kept saying everything is terrible and America is a dumpster fire and voters apparently agreed.
Harris's top line message was, 'We have made a lot of progress, but we have more work to do'
@johncusack@BernieSanders Literally not true.
Harris pushed kitchen table issues constantly.
-housing affordability
-student loan forgiveness
-cost of living
-healthcare costs
If you didn't hear any of that it's because you didn't want to.
Well, the Brits elected Boris Johnson, but they have a vastly different system that both limits the power of the PM and in a lot of ways makes it easier to switch PMs
Americaโฆitโs like watching the Fall of Rome. There is no other democracy, from Norway to New Zealand, which would elect as its leader a rapist, felon, liar, ignoramus, misogynist, vindictive bully and charlatan.
If you're anywhere on the politically left spectrum and you either protest voted or didn't vote at all you need to understand that every single issue you care about is on the chopping block now.
Congratulations ๐
We are in the Twilight Zone.
An electorate that has magical thinking is ungovernable.
The predictable response will be:
-Democrats will move further right - not left
-Democrats will not put forward a female candidate for POTUS again in the foreseeable future.
MIssouri voters voting for abortion rights, an increase in the minimum wage, and paid sick leave, and a senator and a president who strongly oppose these things is where we are in a nutshell
Look, I know this is inconvenient for all of your little factional squabbles, but the fact remains that the Harris campaign did a lot of what *both* centrists *and* leftists wanted. It's not above-board to pretend not to know this.
When Republicans pass a federal abortion ban then use SCOTUS to nullify state level protections don't say you didn't know.
Because the only way to not know was to have your head buried in the sand.
When Trump replaced Alito and Thomas with two inexperienced partisans in their 40s and the makeup of SCOTUS is locked in for a generation don't say you weren't warned.
When the economy tanks and your life is disrupted daily by anti-immigration police don't say you didn't know
We shall fight in the courts.
We shall fight in the agencies.
We shall fight in the House and Senate.
We shall fight in the '26 midterm elections.
We shall fight on the information platforms.
We shall fight by marching peacefully in the streets.
We shall never surrender.
Oh and if things go extra bad don't be surprised when you don't have a choice in the next elections.
You're naive as hell if you think our institutions will hold.
