Re: lots of infections around. Acute COVID remains at near saturation levels in the community throughout the year, & long COVID is relatively common (eg, 7% of all adults in the US have had LC), it commonly lasts for years, and is on the increase in recent times. Having LC is known to negatively affect how immunity functions. So, it would not be surprising to see other diseases that rely on normally functioning immunity surge/behave in an unusual way for this reason. Although much needs to be learned about this issue, clearly at a population-level our immune systems are in a different place now to what they were prior to 2020. Immune systems need to be healthy to perform optimally.
No accurate figures so it's up to the brilliance of @Mike_Honey_@dbRaevn & a few others to estimate what's going on. This suggests that over 1 million people have C0VID in Oz right now, & that almost half of the entire population has had C0VID in the last 6 months. These numbers are extraordinary.
This continues a streak of landmark papers on chronic COVID incl. how it drives fatigue, cognitive decline & now immune dysfunction. All this double underlines why we must do much more to reduce infections & to support those who have LC or ME/CSF. What more will it take?
The difference in public health COVID messaging between Victoria and other states in Australia is extraordinary. Why should public health messaging for a serious disease depend so much on postcode?
Delighted to launch this Report on settlement, Christianity, and the African diaspora in Australia with Dr Kathleen Openshaw at @westsydusoss! 🙌🥳 @RSRCWesternSyd
📢New research by Professor Cristina Rocha and Dr Kathleen Openshaw from Western Sydney University has provided new insights into the complex relationship between African expressions of Christianity and settlement in Australia. READ MORE - https://t.co/d5BDAUXGEm @crocha2
6,500 is an awful lot of premature death in 7 months... there are also many many more than this who get seriously sick but from acute and/or chronic C0VID. We are underplaying this disease. And in so doing perpetuating the problem.
Great to see Australia sticking out on this map in the coward's colour of yellow.
In case you haven't caught up, the Albanese government voted to say nothing about the slaughter of innocent children and sat in the corner like the global simps they are.
@SenatorWong@AlboMP
2 million people living in this country have Long Covid & there have been over 230,000 deaths due to Covid. That’s why masks are now common place & people want to help protect each other ❤️
"The African Diaspora and Christianity in Australia" report by @crocha2, Kathleen Openshaw & Matthew Clancy is being launched on Nov 16, at @westernsydneyu

An entire culture, history and people are disappearing under the rubble – buried by the moral cowardice of our political leaders.
Artists whose work we will never know.
Teachers whose lessons we will never learn.
Children whose laughter we will never hear.
We must keep raising our voice for an immediate ceasefire. For the universal application of international law. For our shared humanity.
For the only path to a just & lasting peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine.
@BrentHodgson@zalisteggall 💯 all this Brent! We really have to ask ourselves why any political leader would not support both truth and transparency in government. Imo it speaks volumes abt how they want to conduct themselves in government. For those in the backseats here is Zali.
Like other respiratory infections, C0VID is an indoor air quality disease. Thank goodness for Linsey, one of a small band of science super hero's that have fought to get this recognised and acted upon. The droplet dogma has been incredibly hard to overcome.
