Michael, if BTC appreciates faster than the cost of capital, a leveraged Bitcoin Treasury Company could outperform plain BTC on paper.

But from a first-principles lens, most people aren't seasoned corporate financiers are they? They're wage earners who are already drowning in debt! They have mortgages, credit cards, student loans, government promises.

They don't need more leverage. They need an asset without a counterparty and Bitcoin was created to be exactly that. A permissionless, trustless, no refinancing, no margin calls digital asset where the simplest stack wins for those who want real sovereignty.

Debt can amplify gains when it works. When it doesn't, it amplifies ruin. History is clear on this. Freedom comes from reducing dependencies, not multiplying them.

I appreciate the role you've played in illuminating what Bitcoin is to institutions, but it doesn't need debt to succeed.

I'll stick with self-custodied sats I can truly never sell that escapes the debt system and pass the keys to my descendants if needed.

Franklin’s famous line was “A republic, if you can keep it” was not a dismissal of mob rule concerns.

The Founders (Madison especially in Federalist 10) were deeply wary of pure democracy descending into factional tyranny and majority oppression of individual rights. That’s exactly why they designed a Constitutional Republic with checks, balances, and enumerated powers instead of unchecked majority (mob) rule.

"We the People" constrain government, not the other way around.

Common sense remains the real scarcity.
