The US Constitution applies to the US Government - it limits the government to what it can do. If it doesn't say they can do it, then it can't do it, basically.

Meanwhile, the Bill of Rights, with few exceptions, applies to all - these are inalienable natural (God given) rights. The right to speak freely, the right to religious beliefs, etc.

We have statutes that go along with the Bill of Rights that further define them - for example the right to bear arms belongs to Those who are rightfully here because of the purpose of that right.

Amendments that pertain to voting and electors are meant for US Citizen participation, the states - by statute - are not allowed to allow foreigners to vote in our US Elections.

The rights of people to not be unreasonably detained, etc - apply to all.

Detaining and deporting people who are here illegally is not unreasonable, but before you deport someone, be sure they are illegal first. I have heard of natural born US Citizens who were mistaken for illegal entrants who were deported.

My wife passed away this morning at 3:30am with her hand in mine.

After being diagnosed with lupus a few weeks ago, my wife passed out in the Newark airport on her way home on December 26. I would have lost her then had my brother in-law not been traveling back to the states with her. 

I took the next flight up from Charlotte, and was with her in the ICU. She was in transitioned to a normal room, which kept us all in high spirits. She had a minor operation due tomorrow, but unfortunately, she did not make it to the sunrise.

I didn’t know she was about to transition, but I slept in the hospital rooms with her and was able to speak to, and sing to her just about 30 minutes before she passed. 

She always talked about the day when she would finally hear the applause of Heaven for the life she lived.

That day is today.

No other words to offer at the moment except please keep the Washington and Meshoe family in your prayers.

"It was an evenly divided nation. He got more people, but this was not the seismic shift where 57, 58 percent of America said no," Abrams said on MSNBC.

"It was less than 50 percent of the electorate who said this is what we want," she added.

Abrams is one of the country's most prominent voting rights activists. She also mounted a historic gubernatorial bid in Georgia that nearly succeeded.

"Our responsibility is for decency — to show those who stayed home, those who stayed silent that there is a place for decency and a place for them," said Abrams. "That’s the work that has to be done."

However, she added, "it cannot be by itself the only offering.”

"Ignominy is willing to do things that decency won’t," said Abrams. "But that doesn’t mean you abandon decency. I think it means you find other allies."

This is exactly the kind of messaging that the Democratic Party needs right now. Trump has not defeated us for good. This is a disappointing setback but it's one we'll rise from stronger than ever.

In two years we have mid-term elections.

The work starts now.
