As an athlete, your biggest problem in games isn't making mistakes. It's your negative response to making mistakes. Once you learn to stay positive after making mistakes, you'll perform much better in games.
Players...You can sign/play at ANY, and I repeat ANY college in America.....(D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JUCO)......and end up getting an opportunity to play pro baseball if you are good enough! Go where you're WANTED and NEEDED!
Train away fear! The more you train, the more confident you'll be in games. Build up your muscle memory to the point where you can trust your instincts under any amount of pressure.
“That lack of fear of screwing up allows you to just grow and get better. To take chances. Not be afraid to make a mistake. Just work, learn from it and move on.” -Don Mattingly on his youth sport experience
Well stated! This goes for parents too and how you act during a game by your actions and comments! Players—don’t give a college coach A REASON to not recruit and offer you an opportunity. You control this! #doit the Right Way!
Ive said this same thing many many times. Once you can handle failure the way you do success you will find more success. Tough lesson to learn for some players who have ingrained anger/negative responses to failure but it can and needs to be done.
As recruiting decisions are being made and players are making their college choices, remember to look at the school without your sports goggles on! Of course your sport will be a big part of your college experience but there is much more!! Make your decision for the right reasons
Not getting noticed this summer? Prepare to compete with energy every single pitch. Recruiters can't stand to watch baseball played with no energy! Individually or team. Lazy effort = losing. Play with passion, focus, and intensity. Recruiters are seeking dudes and dudes compete.
NCAA Transfer Portal update: almost 3200 guys looking for new schools, and it’s late June! 2000 are leaving their current D 1 programs. If you are playing a lot at your “smaller school”, or have a chance to, stay there!!! You don’t get this time back!
Anxiety often starts with being obsessed over a future that you can’t control. Depression often stars with being obsessed about a past you can’t do anything about. Optimal performance starts with being obsessed with what you can control living, competing moment to moment
If I could give ONE piece of advice to the young players coming up, it would be this ⬇️
You do not need to be a D1 Baseball player to be considered a great Baseball player.. just work hard, be on time, show respect, & love the game 🙌
Recruits—Do your homework and don’t make a decision based upon the name on the front of the jersey! Academic fit is the most important part of your decision!
