We are on ULP strike. We gave @nytimes management months of notice of our strike deadline, we made ourselves available around the clock, but the company has decided that our members aren’t worth enough to agree to a fair contract and stop committing unfair labor practices.
The PIP playbook is my proudest union achievement. Thank you @ClarissaRedwine + CAiT for bringing it to life in such a vibrant, engaging format, and all the members who, while facing bullshit discipline, contributed their experiences to making it better for the ones after them ✊
NYT says it would negotiate more often if union wasn't insisting on "open bargaining" where any member can observe. Union responds: “Why would this company make such a fuss about their own employees watching negotiations silently on Zoom unless the company has something to hide?”
At bargaining, instead of counters, @AmandaRenteria brought news that @codeforamerica would be laying off 35 people. We are taking the time to process and heal, but please read our blog post https://t.co/tr3Z92UnVB
#Layoffs#UnionStrong
Save the Date: After we sent a summary of the 100+ posts from our union members demanding more bargaining time — we heard from management!
Our collective power is what forces management to act.
We’ll see @nytimes execs back at the bargaining table with our unit members!
Hello. ProPublica has unionized. We are a wall-to-wall union of reporters, editors, business and communications staff across the nation who are dedicated to investigative journalism in the public interest. https://t.co/d9IX81DXmA
Today @NYT's leadership announced $400 million in stock buybacks to enrich investors, but the company won't agree to reasonable cost-of-living raises or to pay some workers $65,000. @NYTimesguild https://t.co/qjn8mxUMxX
If @NYTimesGuild members don't have a deal soon, we’re asking readers to not engage in any @nytimes platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Pull out a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak.
The @nytimes wants employees back in the office. We want management to bargain with us in good faith. Standing in solidarity with my 1300 @NYTimesGuild & @NYTGuildTech colleagues who are staying home this week in refusal and protest, while continuing to produce high-quality work.
@JoshuaOgundu I worked at TaskRabbit HQ where they “made” employees do tasks 1/quarter, but it was tracked on a public spreadsheet and only 10-20% of people actually did it.
