Fantastic to hear from community stakeholders & elected officials in Price, UT about
"Coal County at a Crossroads"
Discussing how federal funding opportunities could benefit rural Utah & energy communities 💪
If you don't pay legislators you get already-wealthy legislators. If you don't give legislators staff and resources, you get more influence of lobbyists in the legislative process
Kudos to both of these legislators, and to @BPC_Bipartisan.
“This is all about trust,” he said. “That’s the key ingredient to get stuff done in the United States Congress.”
If Utah had it's act together, a good chunk of this billion $ clean dispatchable energy investment could be made here.
But, if we're just going to write a blank check for aging, polluting coal, we'll miss a key opportunity.

Since this is getting attention - I’m not interested in arguing about crypto emissions.
Wellhead crypto is basically the same as flaring. Grid-connected crypto is the same as any other data center. You’re not special, unless you pay for clean electricity and hourly matching.
"As the ranchers in California predicted, there has been virtually no impact on the cattle operation. We’ve had virtually no interference between our ranching operation and the wind farm operation whatsoever."

“Partisan electoral shares do not change. The same percentage of Republican or Democratic votes are cast. However, voter participation skyrockets…Other researchers have found no evidence of voter fraud (and if anything a slight decline). Vote-by-mail makes elections healthier.”
In my latest @Deseret column, I make the case for Utah's universal vote by mail. The best, peer reviewed literature shows it is secure, doesn't change partisan shares, but boosts voter participation.

Opening up 22 millions acres of public lands in the American West to possible solar energy development may sound scary. But it’s a hell of a lot better than climate change.
