Only 9 states require that sex ed be inclusive of LGBTQ+ people. What’s worse, several states require that sex educators discuss LGBTQ+ people negatively or not at all. Some sex ed policies mandate that sex educators tell students that being LGBTQ+ is unacceptable. #PrideInSexEd
Only 1 in 10 LGBTQ+ youth report that their #SexEd included positive representations of LGBTQ+ people.

Time to catch y'all up on a wild day of #SexEdOnTheHill.
First stop for our California team was @SenKamalaHarris. Her staffer Kathryn graciously thanked these incredible advocates for all their work to empower young people all across California. #SEPAC2019
Next, we got to have a great conversation with @RepJimCosta about how sex ed has changed and what today's young people need, and how we can better support survivors of violence. #SexEdOnTheHill#SEPAC2019
All in all, @SIECUS convened sex ed advocates for meetings with more than FIFTY Congressional offices today. My unending gratitude to everyone who participated in #SexEdOnTheHill for #SEPAC2019.
