Manipur : CONDEMNATION
Henglep, 17th June 2026
Letzamang Haokip
Manipur Legislative Assembly
57-Henglep (ST) Assembly Constituency
I strongly and unequivocally condemn the shocking killing of Lenminsang, S/o Lenkhogin Haokip, at the hands of joint security forces at North Songkong village, Henglep Sub-Division.
It is deeply disturbing and unacceptable that a civilian has lost his life at the hands of those entrusted with his protection. Such an incident strikes at the very foundation of public trust and raises serious concerns that cannot be ignored.
Adding to the gravity of the incident, eyewitnesses have alleged that, after he was shot, his clothes were removed and his lifeless body was taken away by the joint security forces. They further allege that, after his death, attempts were made to portray the incident as fake encounter. If these allegations are found to be true, it would constitute a grave abuse of authority and a serious violation of the rule of law. This is unacceptable and demands immediate attention. These allegations are extremely serious and warrant an immediate, impartial and transparent investigation.
The continued failure to return and retrieve the mortal remains of the deceased civilian has only compounded the pain and anguish of the bereaved family and the public. Every family has the right to perform the last rites of their loved one with dignity and respect.
I demand the immediate recovery and handover of the mortal remains to the family, a thorough judicial and independent inquiry into the incident, and stringent action against all those found responsible. Any attempt to conceal facts, tamper with evidence, or misrepresent the circumstances surrounding the death must be investigated and dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and stand firmly with them in their pursuit of truth and justice.
Calling for peace and restraint, Kuki bodies urged all communities to allow the law to take its course and demanded justice for the victims.

Why So Much Hatred? Where Is the Christian Conscience?
Three innocent Kuki students were injured in the attack on Leilon Munlui Village allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM and ZUF-K. This raises a painful question: Why so much hatred against innocent Kuki civilians and villages?
Those who claim to be Christians should reflect on the teachings of love, mercy, and compassion. Attacking innocent students and civilians can never be justified. We strongly condemn this violence and demand justice for the victims and protection for all vulnerable communities.

The statement issued by Manipur Police leaves little room for ambiguity:
"During the course of investigation,it has been established that the NSCN-IM planned and executed the attacks leading to the deaths of two persons." These are not allegations from social media or partisan narratives, but findings emerging from an official investigation.
The brutal killing of Thengin of Thowai Kuki and Thangboimang of Shangkai stands as a tragic reminder of the human cost of https://t.co/FSbFVZ5W81 facts continue to emerge, attempts to distort the truth or shift blame cannot erase the findings placed on record by law enforcement authorities.
Justice demands accountability.
The families of the victims deserve answers, and those responsible for planning and executing these attacks must be held accountable under the law. Lasting peace can only be built on truth, not denial, propaganda, or selective outrage.

PRESS RELEASE
Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) Condemns Continuing Aggressions Against Kuki Villages and Ancestral Lands
The Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) strongly condemns the continuing aggressions, intimidation, and attacks against Kuki villages and ancestral lands allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM and the Kamson group. These repeated incidents have created fear and insecurity among vulnerable Kuki communities and threaten peace and stability in the affected areas.
For years, Kuki-inhabited areas have faced repeated provocations, coercion, and encroachment. The latest attacks on fringe Kuki villages in the Twilang area along the Imphal–Tamenglong Road are not isolated incidents but part of a disturbing pattern that endangers the existence, security, and dignity of Kuki settlements.
KCAC expresses deep concern over the continued targeting of innocent civilians, destruction of livelihoods, and attempts to dispossess Kuki communities of their ancestral lands. Such actions are unacceptable and must be condemned by all peace-loving people.
The Committee calls for the immediate cessation of all forms of aggression, intimidation, encroachment, and violence against Kuki villages and territories. Attacks on civilians and attempts to terrorize Kuki communities must stop immediately.
KCAC further urges the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take urgent and decisive measures to ensure the protection of vulnerable Kuki villages, prevent further violence, and uphold the rule of law. Failure to act will only embolden those responsible for destabilizing the region and undermining peaceful coexistence.
KCAC stands firmly with the people of Twilang and all affected Kuki villages. The Committee reaffirms its commitment to defending the rights, dignity, security, and ancestral lands of the Kuki people through democratic and peaceful means and calls upon all democratic forces to condemn these continuing acts of aggression in the strongest possible terms.

Dear India,🇮🇳🙏
I would like to draw attention to a deeply disturbing trend currently unfolding across social media platforms regarding Manipur.
Over the past few days, numerous posts, graphics, edited images, and inflammatory captions have been circulated online by like-minded, hate-mongering Naga accounts from Manipur, alleging that Kukis fed HUMAN FLESH 🥩to hostages.
These are among the most shocking accusations one can make against any community. Yet, they are being deliberately and widely shared with zero evidence, verification, or regard for the real-world consequences.
What is even more concerning is the calculated effort by these accounts to sensationalize these baseless claims through the emotionally manipulative use of Al-generated imagery, speculative narratives, and graphic insinuations designed to provoke outrage.
This is not merely an online campaign for engagement or views; it is a deliberate attempt designed to permanently tarnish the reputation of the entire Kuki-Zo community of Manipur.
The most troubling aspect of this phenomenon is that the people spreading these false narratives know exactly what they are doing. They know that outrage spreads faster than facts. They know that shocking accusations attract attention, and that once a lie gains momentum, corrections rarely travel as far as the original falsehood.
They know that once a community is portrayed as barbaric, inhuman, or monstrous, it becomes much easier to normalize hatred, justify discrimination, and incite hostility against them.
History has repeatedly shown that dehumanization is often the first step toward persecution.
As a quick reminder, the Kuki-Zo community went through similar damaging experiences due to disinformation spread by Meiteis in May 2023. This included the widespread circulation of false claims alleging that 40 Meitei medical students had been raped and killed in Churachandpur using wrong imagery from other parts of the country. Those allegations spread rapidly online, inflamed public sentiment, and led to devastating consequences. As a result, hundreds of Kuki-Zo lives were lost in Imphal, communities were displaced, and deep wounds were inflicted that remain unhealed to this day.
That is precisely why misinformation and sensationalized allegations should concern everyone. Once rumors are allowed to replace facts and outrage replaces verification, the damage extends far beyond social media platforms, leaving lasting scars that remain long after the posts disappear.
In an age where a single post can reach thousands within minutes at the touch of a button, the responsibility to verify information before sharing it has never been more critical. Rumors, manipulated content, and unverified allegations must be approached with strict critical thinking.
Ask yourself this honestly..
Why should anyone or community be expected to endure such disturbing allegations, fueled merely by "AI representative images" without proof, while the rest of the world simply watches and scrolls past?

STRONG CONDEMNATION OF THE ATTACK ON LASAN VILLAGE
Today morning, Lasan Village once again came under attack, allegedly by NSCN Eastern Flank, ZUF Kamson Group, Arambai Tenggol, Myanmar-based Meitei militants, Shan National Army elements, and junta-backed armed groups operating along the Indo-Myanmar border. We strongly condemn this act of aggression and the continued targeting of Kuki villages.
The repeated attacks on Kuki settlements are deeply disturbing and raise serious concerns about the safety and security of innocent civilians living in the border areas. The people of Lasan Village, like every citizen of India, deserve protection, peace, and the right to live without fear of armed violence. Yet attacks continue while vulnerable villages remain exposed to threats from heavily armed groups.
The alleged presence and movement of foreign-based armed elements crossing into Indian territory is a matter of grave concern. Any militant activity, cross-border infiltration, or coordinated assault against civilian populations must be treated as a serious threat to national security. The continued violence not only endangers local communities but also undermines peace and stability throughout the region.
We call upon the Government of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and all concerned security agencies to take immediate action to protect civilians, secure the border, investigate the perpetrators, and ensure accountability for those responsible for these attacks. Silence and inaction will only embolden those who continue to use violence against innocent people.
The aggressions against Kuki villages must stop. Peace cannot be achieved while armed groups continue to attack civilians with impunity. Justice, security, and the rule of law must prevail, and every effort must be made to ensure that such attacks never happen again.
