When humanity finally comes out of this pandemic, a retaliatory rush to normality without taking heed of the lessons learnt would be a great shame. 1/3
@MohamedNasheed Sadly you probably know yourself that it is not true. But if both sides are rotten, from within which side can you better work to dampen the malevolent deep state you’ve so often spoken about?

We made incremental progress in Glasgow - this progress is not in line with the urgency and scale required. What is balanced and pragmatic to other parties will not help the Maldives adapt in time. It will be too late for the Maldives. #COP26
The #COP26 outcome is a compromise, reflecting the interests, contradictions & state of political will in the world today.
It's an important step, but it's not enough.
It's time to go into emergency mode.
The climate battle is the fight of our lives & that fight must be won.
After COP26 it takes a fairly heroic mental effort to continue to believe in the viability of 1.5. Does this look like a world that is about to cut emissions by half in 9 years? But we must continue to fight, because there is simply no other choice.
Mary Robinson as #COP26 concludes:“COP26 has made some progress, but nowhere near enough to avoid climate disaster. While millions around the world are already in crisis, not enough leaders were in crisis mode. People will see this as a historically shameful dereliction of duty.”
"There must be a reason why I keep on surviving, against all odds...and I think to advocate, to do and say whatever I can about the planet...it's my life's duty!"- @MohamedNasheed#COP26Glasgow#TogetherForOurPlanet https://t.co/jGsIkYxAMf
It’s crucial that the current global warming be maintained below 1.5 °C. Otherwise our natural resources will face irreversible damage- Our coral reefs will die; rainfall will increase; wind speeds will pick up.

“All leaders need to be in crisis mode!”
Mary Robinson and @MohamedNasheed discuss @TheCVF call for @cop26 to agree a #climate emergency pact.
Today the most climate vulnerable and the biggest emitters will be around the same table in #Glasgow.
I am honored to share @MissionBlue's newest Hope Spot: the Laamu Atoll! To look back to 2011 when @SixSensesLaamu began collecting information, to now as we're celebrating the designation of the atoll as a Hope Spot – it’s truly a reason for hope.
