Unless your AAU team has Division I prospects you SHOULD NOT, in my opinion, ever be playing games 5+ hours from your home state.
The draw of "circuits" along with the inability of coaches/parents/players to evaluate their own level is actively HURTING the recruitment of players
I hope this helps parents navigating the youth sports landscape.
You are not crazy for having a "normal summer" or not putting your kids in specialized lessons at 6 years old.
If your kid has the God given ability to play professional sports, trust me you will see it.
Shouldn't we be talking about the fact that we have 1,000 ingredients in our food that are illegal in other countries? We are systematically poisoning this generation of kids. That is what this election should be about. #MAHA 🇺🇸
If your non HS sport coach, (AAU, Travel Baseball, 7 on 7), is telling you NOT to play multiple sports in high school they are not looking out for your best interest. They are trying to benefit off our your dollars.
I heard a U13 select volleyball coach yelling at his team while the parents listened in.
“You all need to take this seriously if you want to play collegiate volleyball. Stop screwing around with other sports. Focus just on volleyball year around.”
The girls were all about 5’3 being sold a lie.
If this sounds familiar, pull your kid from that team asap.
Just watch the @NFL draft. Even the greats played multiple sports.
Life is too short. Play multiple sports.
Why?
Before you know it, it’s all over. Even for those that make it to D1 or pros.
The most common comment I get from alumni that didn’t play football while in high school is “I regret not playing football for you.”
No regrets. Play multiple sports!!
Raising an Athlete is Hard.
Your approach matters.
Here are 5 Critical Lessons for Sports Parents.
1. It is your child’s experience, not yours.
You must remember that this athletic journey is your child's, not yours. Allow them to own their successes AND failures. Support them without dictating their path.
2. Team Focus
As much as you love your child, remember it is a TEAM sport. It's all about the team, not just your child. Teach them the value of teamwork and collective success. Show them how to sacrifice ME for WE. Celebrate their teammates' Successes! Do not compare.
3. Embrace the Struggle
Accept the struggle of team sports. Embrace the highs and lows. Help your child understand the value of perseverance and resilience. Struggles are part of growth and character building.
4. Navigate, Don't Plow
Be there for support, not to clear all obstacles. Allow them to navigate challenges and learn resilience. Being a snowplow parent denies them the chance to grow.
5. Find Joy in the Journey
Find happiness in the entire sports experience. Celebrate the small victories and lessons learned. The journey’s highs and lows are equally valuable. Teach your child to cherish every moment, win or lose.

California Sheriff Is Not Afraid To Speak The Truth
“We are here today because California public safety is in crisis. Crime is steadily on the rise and our public safety policy is one of the worst, if not the worst in the nation. I wanna make this clear and I want there to be no mistake in what I am saying. This is not by accident.”
“The driving force in our crisis is a radical progressive agenda fraudulently called criminal justice reform. This is nothing short of a sick and twisted social experiment where law enforcement is the bad guy and criminals are somehow victims of society and not responsible for their actions, their crimes, or accountable to their countless victims.”
“Thousands upon thousands of criminals are being released from custody early, crime is increasing and our governor is closing prisons instead of building new ones. It defies common sense. — We are now at our breaking point and Californians have had enough.”
I can’t transcribe this all due to X’s text limits but this is an excellent listen.
PARENTS: Don't build your happiness around your kid’s athletic performance. If you get in a bad mood because they played bad, take a break from the game. Your kid needs to have tough performances to learn, not have great performances to make you feel good.
