@ProfessorStacie I think assessment is a good thing but can also be stressful for everyone involved. I think pre-assessment is a good way to see where everyone stands. I think post-assessment is a good way to see if they are grasping what you are teaching. Overall, I think it is very important.
@ProfessorStacie I'm glad that we covered this in class. These are needs that one needs to survive. If we see a student struggling, then we can speak to them and break down their needs to see which area needs more attention. It's a matter of success or failure in my opinion.
@ProfessorStacie I think a child's culture impacts them in many ways. However, that is one of the several things that we, as teachers, have to overcome. You will have students who do not celebrate holidays due to their culture. You then have to find ways to accommodate for that.
@ProfessorStacie You have to realize that no two children learn the exact same. In the classroom, you will have to adapt to those things and find something that works for all of your students. It can be very difficult and frustrating, but you have to be able to do what is best for your students.
@ProfessorStacie I feel as if both are important and at some point you kind of have to be both. I feel as if most of the time I would be a "Guide on the Side" teacher. I know there will be times where I need to be a "Sage on the Stage" teacher, but I want to give my students a sense of freedom.
@ProfessorStacie I knew every day was different going into these observations. I didn't realize the abilities that these children have. Their exceptionalities truly do not slow them down. I have learned how to properly deal with many different scenarios.
@ProfessorStacie Early intervention is very important. The sooner something is found, the easier it could be to correct. I did not realize that there were so many symptoms that go along with each exceptionality, and that is something that each teacher needs to be aware of.
@ProfessorStacie These programs are very important within the community. We, as a whole, have to remember that exceptionalities expand far outside of the classroom. Just because a person grows up and gets out of school does not mean that they no longer need help. These programs are great.
@ProfessorStacie Classroom design is a big factor in their success. If there is too much going on within your room, then students can become distracted, and it could be very difficult for them to really learn. I am all about making your room feel like home, but it does not need to go overboard.
@ProfessorStacie It is important to stay up to date on things. The state may supply you with new resources to make teaching these children easier and you would never know it unless you're caught up on the latest. These things are always changing, and it is our job to give students the best.
@brookeallysonc @ProfessorStacie Agreed! Sadly that is one of the main reasons why there is a shortage of teachers. No one wants to get paid so little for the big amount of work that goes into it.
@ProfessorStacie I think the most surprising thing to me is the fact that no two children are the same. Aside from teaching them, just sitting back and watching how they all act is amazing to me. No two children have the same personality. I love their uniqueness.
@Marandak02@ProfessorStacie I agree! I have a younger brother, and Iโm glad that heโs actually getting to enjoy whatโs left of his high school education!
@Joeyintro2edu@ProfessorStacie I agree! I missed out on the last of my junior year, and then my senior year was crazy. Itโs nice seeing the world getting back to โnormalโ.
@ProfessorStacie Covid had a huge impact on the world, especially in education. Children lost many important interactions and I feel that this truly hurt their development. While it was a struggle to get through, we as a country, have to move forward.
@smithlm2020@ProfessorStacie I agree! All childrenโs needs should be met within the classroom. Letting students know that youโre proud of them will make them want to succeed so they continued to be praised.
@AleahTurner5@ProfessorStacie I completely agree! Children may not have anyone to run to at home so it is important that we make them feel comfortable enough to come and talk to us about anything.
@ProfessorStacie Building relationships with students in your classroom is very important! Relationships create a safe community for children. Building bonds also make children want to come back and be excited to learn more in your classroom.
@KeeElisha@ProfessorStacie I agree! It seems like a very hard conversation to be had, but in order for the child to properly succeed it needs to happen.
