.@AnthropicAI is a masterclass in marketing & comms execution. Mythos cyber-security is another gem from the playbook.
Consistently made Anthropic look ethically responsible yet all-powerful. Ethics will endear it to regulators & capabilities to business. Plus doomer narrative percolates in media to hype up IPO.
The characterisation of @DarioAmodei is perfect. Portrayed as brilliant eccentric engineer prioritising people over profit VS overly slick salesman @sama .
Even the Trump debacle was brilliantly played. All but the most ideological conservatives will still use Anthropic because it looks like the best model. But it can also make inroads amongst a sceptical left who see @OpenAI as too fawning.
Anthropic now the least politically exposed, able to prosper under future Democrat or Republican administrations.
- AI. Is it a bubble?
- Rates. Will a new Fed chair cave to Trump’s demands for faster cuts?
- Geopolitics. Is Greenland the start of more volatility? Or does regime change in Venezuela and (maybe) Iran signal the beginnings of a peace dividend?
2026 markets outlook.
Singapore secures @BTS_twt for four December shows: 17th, 19th, 20th and 22nd.
Coup for the STB, promising substantial Christmas 2026 footfall, as K-pop fans descend on the city state.
HODL is a call to the faithful.
But is that such a bad thing?
As @ericjackson says, the faith of retail investors means they see the bigger picture sceptical institutions miss #BTC#OPEN#PLTR

Tax the Rich.
But we already do. A lot. The UK's wealthiest 100k individuals are 15% of the tax base.
If the broad-shouldered brigade up sticks, how does the government plan to fill that fiscal hole? 👇

The thinking once @reformparty_uk -curious @elonmusk advocates: question every requirement & delete any part of the process you can.
While Reform & @UKLabour fight over what else the state can do, @Conservatives are looking at how it can get out of the way.
Why AI Is So Boring.
I wrote this back in July on a similar trend. GenAI amplifies corporate bullshit. So LinkedIn posts & press releases get ever more identikit. And we get further away from content that actually means anything.

Very good @HarvardBiz piece on AI slop & workplace productivity.
Content "masquerades as good work, but lacks the substance to meaningfully advance a given task."
A riff on buy cheap, buy twice - GenAI's time saved is a false economy.

My latest for @ConHome: Reflections on a week in Budapest, speaking at @brainbarcom about the Singapore model. You need assets to act autonomously. And the UK has to get better at leveraging the substantial ones it has.
Super week in Budapest at the fantastic @brainbarcom festival. Chatted with Openspace co-founder @hiangoh on the Singapore model. What can Hungary and Europe learn from it?
Lively debate between @BalazsOrban_HU & @carlbildt at @brainbarcom in Budapest. Orban argues EU needlessly aggressive to China & US. Jeopardises Hungary’s ability to maintain good relations with both. Bildt suggests EU responding to outside hostility & protecting member states.
My latest for @ConHome: From central banks to quangos, we treat unelected bodies as the good guy centrist dads. As if they're bastions of impartial independence. But they carry their own agenda and thwart real change.
‘If tariffs are so bad, how did these countries get so rich?’ Zoltan Pozsar says in Hong Kong, arguing tariffs were a central tool in the emergence of Asian tigers. Believes Trump-Bessent reforms will bear similar fruit in the USA.
