ఒక తెలుగు గాయని అయిన జానకమ్మ గారిని ( ఆమె కన్నడ పాటలు పాడారనుకోండి ) కన్నడ వారు ఈ రోజు ఓన్ చేసుకున్న విధానం... ఆమె అంత్యక్రియలను రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం అన్ని మర్యాదలతో నిర్వహించడం చూస్తే గర్వంగా ఉంది. అదే సమయం లో, ఇంకో మహాగాయకుడి విగ్రహం నెలకొల్పుతుంటే గొడవ చేసిన కొంతమంది గుర్తొచ్చారు

That S. Janaki was a fab singer is well known. She gave us SP Balasubramanium by spotting him in a college contest. The lady lived like a saint. She had the courage to decline the Padma Bushan because she felt she got her recognition 55 years too late. Even South Indians celebrated Asha Bhosle. It's a pity the rest of India didn't get to discover S.Janaki. The lady who recorded 48,000 songs. We'll miss you Janaki Amma. Thank you for the music.

దాదాపు ఐదు దశాబ్దాల పాటు ఎస్. జానకి గారి గాత్రం భారతీయ సినీ సంగీతానికి ఓ ప్రత్యేక గుర్తింపుగా నిలిచింది.

వేలాది పాటలు, ఎన్నో భారతీయ భాషల్లో ఆమె ఆలపించారు. దేశంలోని అత్యంత గొప్ప ప్లేబ్యాక్ గాయనిలలో ఒకరిగా గుర్తింపు పొందారు.

అయితే 2013లో భారత ప్రభుత్వం ఆమెకు పద్మభూషణ్ పురస్కారాన్ని ప్రకటించినప్పుడు, అందరూ ఊహించని నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నారు.

ఆ అవార్డును ఆమె గౌరవపూర్వకంగా తిరస్కరించారు.

@Vayuputradasa Very true. Kannadigas have always celebrated art and talent without boundaries of region or language. Even P.B. Srinivas, a Telugu, rose to fame in Kannada Nadu. Respect and kudos to Kannadigas for their deep love for art. 🙏🎶
