Hi, @NYC_DOT@nyc311@NYCSanitation not sure who would be responsible but can someone clean up the paint dust which was left on the 59th street bridge entrance (Queens and Manhattan north side bicycle path)? It’s a “sandstorm” of paint at the moment which can’t be good…
Two people died in a head-on crash on the Queensboro Bridge bike lane between the rider of an illegal e-scooter with a top speed of 50 miles per hour and a cyclist, underscoring the need for enforcement against illegal, super-fast micromobility vehicles. https://t.co/BYLejfwQ5q
Rode the Bergen Bike Bus today to make a big announcement:
We’re redesigning Bergen Street and Dean Street, from Court Street to East New York Ave — adding new bike boulevards and more pedestrian space. Safer rides to school for New York City kids coming soon.
Drivers like this are exactly how people end up getting seriously hurt on the road. The cyclists clearly signalled a turn, yet this driver still chose to overtake straight into a developing hazard. Then a ute pulls out from the side street and suddenly you’ve got a near head-on. Completely avoidable if there was even a moment of patience and awareness.
Broken Windows: parking version. One asshole decides to park illegally in a way that endangers cyclists and drivers alike, so another guy decides to follow. The truck has a placard of course.
The debris left over from this weekend’s 34th Ave open street car crash (word is a drunk driver, speeding, early in the am) is quite stunning. And folks tell me with the car debris,🩸 pooled on the pavement & traffic light smashed it was 3x worse in immediate aftermath! @StreetsblogNYC
I was nearly smushed by a wrong-way driver Saturday. In broad daylight. While I was in the bike lane. Not moving.
The @NYPD78Pct said they couldn't help because they didn't witness it, but there has to be some way to yank this guy's license. This is nuts! @NYCMayor ?
Breaking: A woman cyclist has been seriously injured by a truck driver in Midtown. We are on the scene, but the trucker's record is filled with school zone speeding tickets: https://t.co/ukup0YCgRH
A total massacre in Astoria, 19th Avenue and 42nd Street. According to the neighborhood Reddit, a speeding maniac driver hit two people. Astoria drivers are aggressive, violent, and out of control. They view pedestrians and cyclists as obstacles slowing them down.
