I have just cancelled my @BritishCycling membership and resigned from my cycling club committee.

Trans and non-binary people's participation is sport is fundamental and while it may change how we organise sport; banning people is regressive and sends a dangerous message.

@Sport_England say #LGBTQ+ people are nearly twice as likely to be inactive. Without targeted 🏳️‍🌈🚲 spend, what changes?

If every image promoting cycling was of white males aged 40+ the consequence would be vast swathes of people would feel less welcome.
To include you have to represent, to increase participation of marginalised groups you have to target.

Inclusion and representation leads to participation and more ought to be spent to increase participation of marginalised groups.

Our #FOI request to the DfT asking where £millions of taxpayer money is being spent by @WeAreCyclingUK & how much is reaching protected characteristics has received a preliminary response.

They say a 'public interest test' is needed before agreeing to release more information.
