URGENT ALERT: Visual Impairment of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi

We are raising an alarm regarding a harrowing pattern of vision loss affecting former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, while in state custody.

Verified reports confirm that former Prime Minister Imran Khan has lost 85% of his vision in his right eye due to a retinal vein occlusion and blood clot that went untreated for months.

A medical report from March 28, 2026, confirms his wife is now suffering from Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD) and Ocular Hypertension.

Both individuals, previously healthy, are experiencing identical symptoms. This points to a shared environment of physical and psychological oppression.

Solitary confinement and sensory deprivation directly deteriorate long-distance sight. Furthermore, the sustained high eye pressure reported in both cases risks secondary retinal occlusion, which leads to permanent, irreversible blindness.

Given the deteriorating health and symptoms, there is an immediate need for:

- A neutral international medical commission to conduct a full toxicology screen and ocular exam to rule out poisoning and chemical suppression.
- Immediate cessation of the 22+ hour solitary confinement that is physically destroying their sensory health.
- Transfer both individuals to a specialized facility with access to their personal physicians to ensure transparent and adequate treatment.

The loss of sight in state custody is not an accident or even an isolated incident; it is a human rights violation. The international community must act before this damage becomes permanent.
