@iluvthenaseees @dan5sch I'd love to! I've actually been thinking about making tutorials for a while. YouTube mostly scratches the surface, and as soon as you try something more advanced, it gets really hard to find good resources. Maybe one day, but with uni, it's pretty tough to find the time.

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

Been obsessed with @dan5sch's voxel renderer for months, trying to figure out how to get the same look in Unreal Engine.

Well, here it finally is

Voxel raymarching, height straight from the pixel art. No heightmap, no extra geometry.

#UE5 #gamedev #shaders

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

@JonahDevs @dan5sch The mesh is actually flat. The material raymarches through the texture per pixel and fakes the voxel depth, using the brightness of each pixel as its height. So it's all an illusion, which is probably why it feels a bit weird to watch.

Absolute pure genius.

Most useful browser extension I’ve ever seen.

Ever wanted to blast something off the internet?

PAGE RAGE is a fun little browser extension game that allows you to destroy any web page!

It’s crazy how much shaders can transform a game. Working on a little side project and I made this 2-bit shader with light dithering + cel shading… the difference with vs without is just insane.

Was setting up ladders and stumbled upon this by accident...
When you jump and grab a ladder, you keep your momentum and slightly slide/glide before fully locking on. Feels really good and I barely see this in other games.

@holstingame bro we can’t wait anymore… six years of custom rendering tech and you’re still cooking, release the gaaaame

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

@Tal_Roza The spline part wasn’t too bad! Most of the work went into the module placement and making all the different setups work properly.

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

Just built my own pipe tool using splines + procedural generation.

Yeah, I know similar tools already exist… but $100+ is wild...
Building it yourself just hits different.

@SentientSoftwr Thanks man! I didn’t know about your tool! Most of the ones I found use PCG. Being able to rotate each section individually is really cool
I needed to keep my textures properly pixelated, so instead of deforming the mesh, I add segments. Less precise, but keeps the pixels perfect

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

@zz_luckiest For this game, I’m trying to build pretty much all the tools myself. Maybe once it’s finished, I’ll dump everything on GitHub for everyone to play around with

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

@zz_luckiest Yeah, it’s real hehe But there’s not much interesting on my GitHub right now. I’m a CS & AI student by day and a game dev by night, so it’s mostly university projects for now

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

@RestingRelic Maaaaan, this reminds me SO much of Shadow of the Colossus… so freaking cool 🔥🔥

[AtomicMantis @D4LIGd]

@IndieGameJoe Love seeing posts like this. Making a game on your own is tough, so knowing there’s a community behind you makes all the difference. ❤️

[Indie Game Joe @IndieGameJoe]

No indie dev should ever stand alone. Having your hard work ripped away like that is just heartbreaking, and you are more than welcome, Ryan.

Seeing everyone rally around him is what this community is all about. Now let’s get this indie dev more WESHLISTS! ❤️

Just another day turning Nazis into abstract art...
Pity the poor bastard on cleaning duty today.

@KiriArc_Games Half of the project is in C++ ...

My therapist asked me to draw my stress…

So I showed him this. 🍝🍝🍝

@KiriArc_Games And that’s only the tip of the iceberg. 😢😢

Yes, I just noticed the typo in the screenshot.
The second “Overwritten” was supposed to say “Shotgun”.
But I guess it belongs to the spaghetti now.
