Our paper "Shrink & Morph: 3D-printed self-shaping shells actuated by a shape memory effect" was accepted to SIGGRAPH Asia!
We print flat plates with controlled trajectories so that, when heated, they morph into pre-programmed shapes
New year, new review! Thanks Abigail Struhl (@a_struhl) for our first publication of 2025 🎉. Check out this striking review of Marie NDiaye's "Vengeance is Mine" here: https://t.co/TbaK3D3hQg
In nature, one life ends when another begins. Material degradation becomes functional repurpose and upgrade, mediating natural ecology. A new project from @MorphingMatLabled by @Dr_Qiuyuand Semina Yi, @BerkeleyME@Cal_Engineer@UCBerkeley https://t.co/nsagy63jGd
I harvested this beautiful post reflection on morphing matter from the lens of a junior yet brilliant computer graphic student, Sergius, who attended my talk at Summer Geometry Initiative led by @JustinMSolomon at MIT.

Happy to announce I passed my viva for my thesis "Dimensionless Bayesian Model-Based Reinforcement Learning"
I thank the examiners Dr Christos Anagnostopoulos and Prof Carl Edward Rasmussen for their comments and insightful discussions.
About 10 years ago, I benefited from my first student volunteer work at CSCW in Hangzhou. SV gives one not only a free registration, but also a life-long experience, friendship and community. We need you for #UIST2024, student volunteers!
In this week's #PeopleofACM, we profile Adrien Bousseau, a Senior Researcher @Inria. Bousseau's interests include image creation and manipulation, shape modeling and scene understanding. Read the full interview here: https://t.co/mpwnj5govg

@amir_zadpoor@MJMirzaali@moosabeiki1 affecting expansion factors, because their printers were able to extrude fast enough without introducing gaps in the material. (3/3)
@amir_zadpoor@MJMirzaali@moosabeiki1 This seems to be caused by the increase in porosity observed in the CT scans, and I think this porosity is probably due to the printer not being able to extrude the required amount of material. This would explain why so many papers report they didn't find printing speed was (2/3)

Morphing Pasta tutorial is up, with downloadable stamping molds and links to where to print them. Some collaborators were able to successfully follow the tutorial. For non-commercial uses (e.g., research, class, STEM workshops), this is freely available!

Nice new implementation of "stripe patterns" in GeometryCentral, thanks to David Joudan: https://t.co/j7k6tEkPwt
The stripes algorithm computes evenly-spaced stripes aligned with a given vector field. This version also carefully extracts isolines, even around singularities.
