Medical grade manuka honey is already approved for use by the FDA, TGA & EMA. Using it as an alternative to topical antimicrobials may help reduce the incidence of AMR. There are still lots of questions to be asked and answered & I'd love to hear them!

From this finding we wondered whether manuka honey would affect the efficacy of antimicrobials which reply on the PMF for entry to the cytoplasm. We found that manuka honey acts synergistically with tetracycline class antibiotics against P. aeruginosa!
