Craig oversaw the report on Coons' allegations about the 2016 hire [image: conclusion]. I believe nothing further has been done about Craig's own allegations of unethical/illegal activity.

Craig makes it sound like Coons is too worried about his image and failing to see how serious it would be if action were taken, dancing around the idea that action needs to be taken simply because the hires were unethical/illegal.

@GorinMoti @coons_christian @bgsu Coons can confirm, but my understanding is that it was issued after the meeting, but the dean had (unbeknownst to Coons) closed the investigation in May. This is especially remarkable because a lot of the meeting is the dean saying he’ll be soliciting more evidence from Coons.

However, Vallier’s complaint included the same boilerplate about a hostile work environment that’s being used in the current round of disciplinary action.

Second thread about @kvallier's complaint to @bgsu against @coons_christian for emails that "contain multiple falsehoods, and are clearly intended to harm me, and other members of my department." My main aim is to help corroborate Coons' claim that he and others face retaliation.

@JuliaRingma @coons_christian did email some grad students about the speaker, so he may have set the ball rolling, but he had many complaints beyond the Twitter stuff, and I believe students found a lot themselves (plus I don't know how Vallier would know he "spent hours" looking for dirt).

OTOH I'm told multiple faculty criticized or threatened students in response to the letter. @BrandonWarmke called it "an act of war." I've received further specifics—many quite serious—but been asked not to share, even anonymously, due explicitly to fear of further retaliation.

It doesn't ask that the speaker be uninvited. It doesn't even say students won't attend, only suggests those who don't should be excused. And when the speaker cancelled, they were promptly reinvited, despite this "destructive" "mistreatment." (Covid nixed the replacement talk.)
