I find this study could be a useful springboard for deep discussions around safety and ethics, but NOT only from a western medical lens.
Across #PsychedelicRetreats, most organizations conducted medical history screening and recommended medication washout, but safety protocols and health professional involvement varied. https://t.co/dMAnMJ5Iix

@DocDurDur@unlimited_sci Thanks for asking! We bring this useful point up in the discussion. While we didn't look at state shame at baseline, the scores we found with psilocybin were consistent with those seen in other shame-activating experimental paradigms and higher than those seen without activation
Lots of people have been speculating about Elon Muskโs ketamine use, and so I wrote about what we do know about prolonged, heavy ketamine use in samples of recreational users. Many of these risks are well-known already in psychedelic circles. https://t.co/Wi5sBIKmKe

New paper published in Nature Scientific Reports, in collaboration with colleagues at Columbia and Baylor! This paper describes knowledge and attitudes surrounding therapeutic use of psilocybin and MDMA among a convenience sample of 879 U.S. healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and therapists. Respondents were generally favorable towards therapeutic use and continued research on psilocybin and MDMA, though expressed some concerns including lack of trained providers to deliver these interventions and associated financial cost and accessibility issues. Interestingly, attitudes were consistently more positive regarding psilocybin than MDMA. https://t.co/jkQWW9Oft9
