@MLAHAZRATBAL@SAS_OFFICAL Thanks a lot for prompt response sir. I hope and pray that our long pending demand will be resolved by your good self ! @MLAHAZRATBAL
@SAS_OFFICAL Do you care to visit your constituency once and see how the daily commute has become a pain for us due to heavy traffic jam on daily basis? Naseem Bagh-Malla Bagh- Ilahi Bagh road has been left without widening from last 40 years.Major schools operate from this area.
@SAS_OFFICAL the pan to widen the road has been ignored by successive governments. The land has almost been acquired by the admin. School busses of major srinagar schools( R P, GREEN VALLEY, Harvard, Foundation, Ingenious) cause major traffic jams due to narrow roads.
The debate over reservation policies in Jammu and Kashmir often misses some key points, so let’s break it down clearly:
1. Government Jobs Are Public Resources:
Government jobs are meant for everyone, not just the Open Merit (OM) category. These jobs are public resources, and their allocation is based on the population’s composition, including reserved categories. They aren’t some natural entitlement of OM candidates.
2. Population Ratios and Seat Allocation:
When 100 seats are advertised, it’s because they’re calculated considering everyone, including reserved categories. If reserved categories weren’t factored in, the total number of seats could drop to 30 or 40, based on the OM population alone. Reserved seats don’t “take away” from OM—they are additional allocations for underprivileged groups.
3. Representation Matters:
Without reservations, it’s possible that all 100 seats could go to OM candidates, leaving no representation for marginalized communities. How would that be fair? Reservations ensure that every section of society gets its due share, which is the point of a welfare state.
4. The Merit Argument:
Complaints about lower cut-offs or ranks for reserved categories miss the mark. These seats aren’t meant for OM candidates, so why worry about their cut-offs? Of course, there should be a minimum benchmark, like 40%, but it’s unreasonable to compare reserved and OM candidates when their competition pools are entirely separate.
5. Govt Jobs vs. Private Sector:
Government jobs are not the same as private-sector jobs, where pure competition decides outcomes. In a welfare state, the focus is on ensuring resources are distributed fairly, especially to marginalized groups, rather than rewarding only the most privileged or competitive.
Reservations aren’t about taking anything away from OM candidates—they’re about making sure everyone gets a fair shot. Instead of getting hung up on cut-offs or ranks, it’s important to remember the bigger picture: a welfare state’s job is to support those who’ve historically been left behind.
@nasirsogami , widening of Mala Bagh, Hazratbal road(Habak to Soura connecting link) has been on cards from last 30 years. The residents suffer a lot due to daily traffic jams. R P School, Kashmir Harvard and Green valley school all are located in same area. This road is an -1
important link road connecting SKIMS, Kashmir University and other important places in this area. We daily witness huge traffic jams which has disturbed us from last 30 years. Most of the land has been acquired by the agencies for widening road. Please take personal interest sir.
