If you’re new to selling options, it’s very important to manage your buying power and your emotions. You can be in a winning trade that is marking (going) against you hard bc of a violent move in either direction.

When a stock moves up or down very quickly the short option will look pretty damn ugly on paper. Delta, gamma and Vega will be kicking your butt and theta can only do so much to help you out.

This is where you must develop the ability to weather the storm so that a loser can turn into a winner if you’re still comfortably OTM.

It’s counter intuitive, but options that are far OTM can still be losing $ on paper until they flip. This is the art of selling options that very few options sellers talk about.

Why don’t they talk about it? IMO, it’s bc they paper hand and close the minute an option isn’t going their way. They want to be leading the whole way. They don’t know to come from behind for the W.

Most of big wins are often losers on paper FIRST. It’s the nature of the beast.
