2020 GENERAL:

Sara Gideon was attacked over her handling of allegations against Dillon Bates.
Gideon herself was not accused of sexual misconduct.
PolitiFact challenged the strongest “cover-up” framing.
After Election Day, the storyline largely faded.

Here’s a cleaner, more dangerous version. I kept your anger, but made it harder to dismiss.

2026 GENERAL:

Graham Platner gets hit again with sexual allegations — and here comes the same political weapon the right loves using against the left.

I call them Liberal Bombs.

A Liberal Bomb is when a scandal gets dropped into left/liberal spaces and the right waits for us to blow up our own side.

The accusation lands.
The bots amplify it.
The reactionaries run their mouths.
And then liberals rush to prove how morally clean they are:

“Well, I believe the victim.”
“I’m off the Graham train.”
“I can’t be seen defending this.”

But let’s be real: for a lot of people, that reaction is about them.

It is about how they think they look.
It is about being afraid someone will accuse them of not caring about victims.
It is about optics before facts.

And not a single person liking and spreading these posts on X — the bot universe where right-wing-adjacent narratives get boosted into the bloodstream — seems to have spent five minutes asking the obvious political questions:

Who benefits?
Why now?
What is proven?
What is the timing?
Has Susan Collins benefited from late scandal politics before?

Because she has.

This is the Collins Pattern.

Different facts. Same political effect.

The opponent goes on defense.
The media chases scandal.
The left starts eating itself.
And suddenly the race stops being about Susan Collins.

That is the point.

I am not saying every allegation is fake.
I am not saying ignore accusers.
I am saying take accusations seriously without surrendering your political brain.

Because if you cannot play politics, your opinion can hurt more than it helps.

This is not a participation trophy situation. This is power.

If the left wins, investigations happen. Corruption gets exposed. Rights get protected. Health care, courts, wages, democracy — all of that becomes possible.

If the right wins, they protect themselves, protect their money, protect their crimes, and keep using the same weapons because they know we fall for them.

So no, this is not about attacking Emma. Love Emma.

This is about everyone who keeps jumping on the Liberal Express the second a scandal drops, without asking whether they are helping the people they claim to oppose.

They don’t need the scandal to last.

They just need it to land.
