@abigailopare28 I have always heard social media is bad and I’ve heard horrible stories of it being used incorrectly. But, I found it to be a great platform with great information. It’s all about how you use it. I plan on keeping mine up and continuing to use it as a platform for child abuse.
@COcasioSW I enjoyed the assignment too! At the beginning of this semester I was a little worried about the assignment, but I thought it was very informative and a great platform. I plan to keep using it too!
I actually really enjoyed this Twitter assignment. I’ve never done anything like this before. I found very informational articles and learned that you can use social media as a good resource. I plan to keep the Twitter up and continue the search for child welfare articles.
SW401 to round out our discussion, in a NEW Tweet, discuss your Twitter experience this semester; how will you use social media in your social work career? Then read/respond to at least 2 of your classmates. This portion of the discussion will conclude on Saturday night.
@TaylorKrauseSW IDEA is such a good program. I had no clue it wasn’t fully funded, it definitely should be! It helps with so much and for a long period of life.
@abigailopare28 This sounds like a great policy! When I worked on a behavioral health floor, it was so sad to see people not be able to go to rehab because insurance didn’t pay and they didn’t have enough money to go. Addiction is a disease and insurance should help with cost!
Vaccines, masks, and health protections are NOT abuse. Why would anyone put them in the same category as physical, sexual, emotional, or verbal abuse. Makes no sense to me.
Please stop throwing around the term “child abuse” when talking about vaccines, masks, and other public health protections.
It’s super disrespectful to those who have survived ACTUAL child abuse and to the children who are currently being abused.
This article talks about the child abuse statistics for years up to 2020. It also talks about what classifies as child abuse and what are the signs we need to look for in children. https://t.co/5XANxGYfLX
Next up SW401, share (as a NEW Tweet) and briefly summarize an article that relates to your policy/problem. Then read/respond to at least 2 other classmates. This portion of the discussion will conclude on Thursday night and new Tweet prompt will be posted Friday morning.
@SBenidayta I think the system is just so broken! The case load is unbelievable right now and there is little to no funding. But I believe it starts with fixing the system and the courts. We can’t do anything without a judge’s signature and they don’t want to deal with it.
My policy was the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act. This policy is in place to help end child abuse. This act funds states with money to help investigate, prevent, prosecute, research, and treat victims of child abuse.
Hi, SW401! To start our synchronous tweets - summarize your policy and problem for the semester as a NEW Tweet. Continue the discussion by responding to 2 of your classmates. This portion of the discussion will conclude on Tues PM and new Tweet prompt will be posted Wed AM.
@kelsey_dugger Making abortions illegal just makes safe abortions illegal. Back alley abortions are going to become common again. Women should be able to decide if they want one or not. Would I have one? No, but everyone should be able to make that decision!
@ajonesswp I’ve heard of First Steps, but haven’t done any research on it. The African American community are excluded in so many ways. It’s so sad to see this! It is 2022, there is absolutely no reason why African Americans should be treated the way they are. I’ll never understand racists!
@elkatiemo I have never heard of this act, but it sounds like a great policy. Homelessness is such a huge issue in the world and it’s so sad that people have to live that way, especially our youth!
Developing a loving and nurturing relationship with children is important at all ages. Use the Conversation Guides to explore ways to reassure families that showing their children love and affection makes a difference. #ThrivingFamilies https://t.co/eIIDSjRfAG
While foster kids continue to suffer in Abbott’s care — 440 have been sexually abused or trafficked since 2017, 100 have died since 2020 — he is forcing out more child welfare workers by forcing them to target transgender kids and their loving families.
We need change.
@TaylorKrauseSW Yes! I agree. I’ve seen it first hand from some of the clients we’ve gotten reports on. They need social interaction. They are having a hard time being home all the time and having to teach themselves.
