Glad to see @lbugdb's performance improvements, and especially happy to see our recent work being adopted.
@lbugdb is adapting ideas from our recent SIGMOD 2026 paper to improve vectorized execution over factorized intermediates.

Honoured that our 2016 paper, Robust Estimators in High Dimensions without the Computational Intractability, w/ Ilias Diakonikolas, Daniel Kane, Jerry Li, Ankur Moitra, Alistair Stewart, was awarded the 2026 Gödel Prize
This is the highest award for papers in theoretical CS. 1/7
Mark your calendars for May 29! The Mila @TechaideMTL AI Conference is just around the corner. Hear from our Scientific Director, @hugo_larochelle, on why this one-day research conference matters to him, and how your participation helps support the vital work of @CentraideMtl.

So happy to be a woman in AI, and more specifically, a woman at Mila!
Shoutout to the scholarship committee for validating me before Reviewer 2 could invalidate me. Nice to know my 47 open tabs and sleep deprivation are contributing to science!
I dislike universal quantifiers in general, but especially in this case. I can state with some authority that "everyone" is NOT "cheating their way through college". This irresponsible framing does a huge disservice to many responsible students who are genuinely trying to learn.
I'm in Rio de Janeiro for ICLR 2026! 🇧🇷
I will be presenting our paper "Is Depth Heterogeneity a Barrier to Model Merging?" (spoiler: not really) at the Workshop for Test-time Updates on Monday April 27th!
Please dm if you're there and you'd like to geek out about... (1/2)

Happy to share that our recent work at @DAIS_PolyMTL, “SQLMorph: Query Mutation and Fine-Grained Metrics for Text-to-SQL Evaluation” has been accepted at @ICDEconf 2026, one of the top venues in data engineering. 🧵👇🏻
students continue to be eager to learn, absorb all i can teach them and improve every week. this semester is one of the most rewarding semesters so far.
some of us here feel unnecessarily, incorrectly and prematurely so defeated that we send out wrong messages of defeatism.
stop!
it’s just you who feel defeated and depressed. don’t impose it on others who are up and coming, and seriously much better than us.
We're admitting PhD students! (Possible co-PIs include @zittrain or @IanArawjo if interests align.) Deadline: Dec 15. Here's what we're excited about pursuing with new students: https://t.co/RMOgcq5Tzj
Since the first release of FlockMTL, a lot has evolved. We’ve introduced new features, improved stability, and listened closely to feedback. Thank you for your comments! One of the most requested capabilities has been image support 🖼️, and we’re excited to share that it’s finally here 🎉.
With version v0.4.0 🆕, FlockMTL now takes a big step forward toward its original vision of multimodal query processing. This release also brings a refined API. While it is a breaking change, the interface feels easier to use on our end.
🦆 You can try it out on DuckDB with:
INSTALL flockmtl FORM community;

💻 Repo: https://t.co/Txyq687BSN…
We’d love to hear your feedback and feature requests!

Happy Birthday, Michael Stonebraker! Stonebraker received the 2014 #ACMTuringAward for fundamental contributions to the concepts and practices underlying modern database systems. More on his many contributions to computing, here: https://t.co/pa0fctJeJA
How should we update AI memory of user intent as it evolves?? 🤔
We’ll present SemanticCommit at #UIST2025 — a system for making semantic commits when intent changes over time. As projects grow, conflicts creep in.

Visual Story-Writing. While you write, our word processor visualizes the timeline, world map, and character relationships. Editing these visuals updates the story (e.g. drag a character on the map to move them).
