@RFKJr_Official - we have a major health crisis on our hands. “Social psychologist Jonathan Haidt and Harvard physician Dr Aditi Nerurkar reveal how tech addiction and short-form video cause depression and attention disorders.“ https://t.co/gda13f6gp7
#ChatGPT vs #Google "--I've built a mac app with #Xcode. How do I install it locally?"
Google tells me how to install XCode and presents me with a rabbit hole. ChatGPT tells me exactly what I was looking for.
#SwiftUI has finally (mostly) replaced #UIKit for me. It didn't do it alone. Without AsyncSequence & Combine it would still be one the shelf of "stuff I wish worked but can't actually be used in prod". It's ready for primetime (unless you want complex gestures)
Psychologists use a term called "pluralistic ignorance" to describe the phenomenon of "no one believes, but everyone thinks that everyone believes." (h/t @AdamMGrant)
Here's a way to visualize it:
@kocienda My biggest issue with SwiftUI has been how gesture support really lacks compared to UIKit. Until SwiftUI gestures matches the flexibility and information that UIKit provides I can't see using it exclusively in a serious iOS app.
@everton_dev A handy use of defer is when you want to clean up a graphics context regardless of where your drawing logic took you. `defer { context.cleanThisMessUp() }`
@benbrown It's really not an ideal solution for so many reasons, but those reasons get usurped by the "write once, deploy everywhere" myth. It's too juicy a sales pitch.
