It also made me realize just how deeply I’ve fallen into the hole of self limiting beliefs, and how badly I want to be curious and creative again. Thanks for the gravity assist @NASA , the fine folks who work there have inspired me to shoot for the stars again
I got to visit @NASA_Marshall today for work and I had the absolute best time. The people there are brilliant, incredibly kind, and work in the coolest mix of old preserved history and indescribably futuristic tech. It got me thinking though
Working at NASA has been a long time dream that, until today, I didn’t realize I had given up on. I totally thought I was going to be satisfied with this visit checking the box of “working at NASA.” And while this visit has been a dream come true
@CanadianMakerpr It doesn’t mean the infrastructure is there to support them in being anything more than another chunk of plastic. Even if they’re properly labeled with their plastic code, plastic is so rarely recycled. Unless the seller has a recycle program it just seems like greenwashing imo
Genuine question, can someone explain the hype around 3D printed shoes? I’m not talking about the Adidas midsoles, I mean the fully printed shoes. I just don’t get it
@CanadianMakerpr Great concept in theory, but it seems like a lot of these early stage high fashion additive shoes tout sustainability as a feature without actually putting the work in to make them sustainable. Just because they can be replaced/repaired/recycled 1/2
@AM_StephanieH @Inov3Dglobal Those are the best I’ve seen so far! Are they comfortable for daily wear? And how’s their durability from your experience?
@repkord I’m sure the appeal is there for a lot of people, but the aesthetics just aren’t something that excites me personally. Plus, I can’t imagine they’re terribly breathable
@1jrice The Asics Actibreeze 3D slide is one of the big ones. For a lot of these shoes they’re just not durable enough to be practical for very long in my mind. The reduced lifespan goes against a lot of the sustainability claims that are being made too imo
Anyone programming in #grasshopper (or know someone who is) and want to be friends? This software is so cool and I’d love to talk to get involved in the community
@hankgreen It’s the only way I was able to get through some eng classes with truly abysmal professors. That being said, it actively detracted from my ability to learn/retain the content. Powerful tool, but often gets used with poor judgement
Friendly reminder to back up your files kids, I’ve just received the rude (luckily not dream ending) reminder that hard drives occasionally love to deep fry themselves 🙃
