@NoelWhittaker Its all fun and games when people are making money and fooling themselves about the trade offs to society. The fact is both sides of Gov should have done more to ensure we never got here. (For everyones sake). The lucky country became slow, bureaucratic and rewarded homes & holes
@MarkoMatvikov I remember both trump elections and was living in America for the first. People denounced him in public then in the solace of the voting booth they said something different. People confuse human social interactions with honest opinions that might be uncomfortable to discuss.
@RennickGBR@TheKouk If the tax payer paid both the hole dug and filled and they were both union so the actual cost per hole was $30 each and its a Gov Infras job at the expense of private enterprise and both workers cant afford not to because of mega mortgages and daycare you have Australia today
@BrendanHanley@RennickGBR@TheKouk If the tax payer paid both the hole dug and filled and they were both union so the actual cost per hole was $30 each and its a Gov Infras job at the expense of private enterprise and both workers cant afford not to because of mega mortgages and daycare you have Australia today
@GreenTyler27 The current gov has no incentive to slow spending and cause a recession. Either spend to get re-elected and deal with the problem later Or its someone elses problem to deal with.
@TMFScottP@LiamWil81042640 House price $550k to $1mil in perth. Then falls 15% (shrug). Its still very expensive for a young couple hoping to raise a family especially with the cost of outsourcing those duties outpacing inflation. Wage growth and productivity is the key but will take too long for young ppl
@NoelWhittaker Brokers used to get 25bpts for not much and that got canned. Now between AML, re certification of ID every 2 years, big doc trails to trace every iteration of deed change, plus source of wealth questions that are coming by stealth we are unpaid macquarie staff talking to bots.
@saltyq@financedystop Tongue in cheek. Erosion of middle class purchasing power, inflation and assets putpacing wage growth and society accepting it as ok.
@MarkoMatvikov 100% agree. All the media reports about the fair work comm pay rise award took the angle of โwell that locks in a rate riseโ and i think thats shameful. Dont put the cart before the horse and ask essential workers to go backwards. There not responsible for bad policy.
@GeoffWiilsonWAM Great work and a good quote from the journalist โeconomic reality does not bend to ideologyโ.
The sooner the penny drops about this the better.
@PeteWargent The fact that rent, fuel, insurance, food and childcare are the biggest line items for most renters and they are all โclose to, or areโ increasing at close to double digits is a terrible outcome for anyone under 45 and aspirational. I feel by Dec 26 and into 27 it will bite hard
@AusMigrantPrint@cjoye@TMFScottP Well you can either ask for permission or forgiveness. He chose the latter.
I think history will deal him anreality check
@GreenTyler27 Why did the gov do 5% deposits when at the same time they were planning to introduce major tax reform and remove neg gearing immediately after?? Why not the other way around and let 5% deposit holder get set after some heat had come out the market? Seems really disingenuous to me
@AvidCommentator They would say โwater viewsโ if the neighbourโs outside tap was leaking. Then again i think jetstar charged me for my emotional baggage as well last trip. ๐๐
@MarkoMatvikov I 100% agree. I think im like โplease tell me the people in charge are not that unorganised out of touch and incompetent at understanding the real issues, understanding private industry and planning for the long term prosperity of the nationโ.
I find it actually scary
@BarryIcewolf Iโll admit im slightly right of centre. I cant piece together any genuine sense of what they purport to help. Why not expand the FHSS scheme to $150k each. It doesnt front load demand, prob helps industry funds while providing a genuine pathway to medium term home ownership.
