@RadioRaps@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@ek_rugby If your lifting technique is so poor that you stagger 4-5 metres upfield before you can safely put the guy back on the ground that doesn't mean you haven't engaged in illegal play. You've done the right thing to keep the jumper safe AND breached 9.26 at the same time.
@RadioRaps@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@ek_rugby Not saying it's an intentional or malicious act. By clear advantage, I mean they made 4-5m they wouldn't have otherwise. Your explanation of what's happening is sort of like explaining what the tackler was trying to do before they made head contact, I get it but it's irrelevant.
@HuwTindall@JohnBFergo I'm hoping Amatosero turns out to be the Ma'a Nonu of Australian locks. Because he's bang average at SR level but we need him to be world class in tests.
@RadioRaps@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@ek_rugby But getting up and competing in the air IS getting the skill right? If you're not in a position to compete and take someone out in the air i.e. get the skill wrong, you get penalised. I refuse to believe you don't understand this or the point I'm making re: the lifting manoeuvre
@RadioRaps@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@ek_rugby Skills can go wrong in all sorts of ways that result in penalties. Intercepts, tackles, cleanouts. If you're gonna do single lifts, cop the consequences of not executing perfectly, just like an intercept, right?
@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@RadioRaps@ek_rugby We don't need to worry about intent or the fact he was trying to bring the guy down safely. Just like with an intercept or a tackle or a scrum, if you can't execute the skill correctly and don't want to be penalised, don't do it.
@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@RadioRaps@ek_rugby No need to change, just enforce. As is, it's clearly not bringing the guy down immediately as required under 9.26 because he has time to take multiple steps forward. Safety issues aside, clear advantage by exploiting the fact both players can't be touched, so a penalty.
@Nelsonhdale 4 teams is part of the problem, that's something like 160 roster spots to fill, let's say 20% turnover every year and assume they all retire (they don't), if you produce more than ~35 professional quality players every year, they MUST go elsewhere. ~700 roster spots in NRL
@HuwTindall@Nelsonhdale The depth (and the injuries and o/s moves that mean we need the depth) is killing us. If we could keep our strongest ~35 together week in week out we'd be doing a lot better. More cohesion, more experience. 19 9/10 combos in last 39 tests says it all.
@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@RadioRaps@ek_rugby It's not absolute but I'd say 4-5m gain is beyond the pale. Yes, he brought the guy down safely but didn't execute the skill correctly to allow him to be brought down "as soon as the ball is won" which should be a penalty in the same way as not being able to hold up a scrum is.
@Meatusx@Dreamchaser4132@RadioRaps@ek_rugby How do we decide when the player could have been lowered but hasn't been to gain an advantage? Based on your screenshots, catcher has made 4-5 metres in an untackleable position. I'd disallow single lifters, unecessarily dangerous, unstable, matter of time til serious injury
@jaredwright17 How can you catch a ball with one hand unless your're John Smit? Everyone has known for ages if you go for it with one hand and you don't get it you're gambling with a yellow. Nothing wrong with the call.
@HankTankBang@Kremmen101@aftertheflood_@allforthanookie Completely different sports with fundamental differences in rules/tactics that make comparison impossible but the idea that there are no athletes in rugby who could do this if they grew up in NFL is wild.
Rodgers'd be a shit fly half because he'd need to do this with his feet.
@TheRugbyIssue *If* we want to get technical that ball is out before Tupou gets there cause none of those players are bound, least of all Sheehan. In a frame between these 2 you can see Sheehan is "bound" to 20 with 2-3 fingers hooked into his shorts.
@hughcavill It looked a clear and obvious forward pass from the one angle we had but I know camera angles can do weird things. I assume there were more angles that weren't broadcast that satisfied the TMO it was ok. Wish we'd seen them.
@dcglasgowboy@swazmack@steve__smith__ Let me draw your attention to 20.2 Bairstow couldn't be bothered to wait for the umpire to call over which would have confirmed the ball was dead and Carey caught and threw the ball in one action before Bairstow even left his crease. Out all day and incredibly dumb from Bairstow.
@DarrylSaul79@Nutritiontech1@Forest__O_O@jaredwright17 Wobs fan here. Rennie wasn't fired cause he was shit. He was fired because Eddie Jones became available and the lunatic in charge of RA at the time thought he could be a hero by hiring him.
