@Nadav_Eyal “Netanyahu retained [Alon]” does not answer Gadi’s criticism. It would be preferable if you would refute his claim that Alon’s recommendation to agree to Hamas’s demands in exchange for prisoner release would have undermined Israel’s security situation.

@evacool_ You omit a crucial change that has emerged from the war which may overshadow everything else. Israel is able to project its military power inside of Iran at will (subject only to restraint imposed by the US). Iran has no answer to this.

@ForeignPolicy North Vietnam didn’t have a military-industrial complex building ballistic missiles& a nuclear arsenal, nor was it dedicated to the destruction of Western civilization. Whatever the current US capitulation to appease oil markets, those capabilities were severely damaged.

@gershonbaskin Correct. The “one” who led the Israeli government refused to surrender. Thank God for that. If he had listened to Alon, Hamas would control all of Gaza; Hezbollah would be at full strength w 150k missiles; Assad would be in power & Iran might have a nuke.

@TomerPersico What world do you inhabit? In my world Hamas is pushed away from Israel’s border&its supply lines across the Philadelphi corridor controlled by Israel. Hezbollah pushed away from Israel & its arsenal of 150k rockets decimated. Iran’s nuke&mitary-industrial complex dismantled.

@GadiTaub1 Nothing Alon is saying is surprising,new or controversial.He accuses Netanyahu of refusing a surrender-for-hostage deal.Netanyahu publicly refused to consider such a deal at the time and insisted that military pressure would achieve release w/o surrender.Bibi has been vindicated
