A viral video from Mexico dating back to 2022, showing drug cartel members mutilating dead men, has been recirculated in #Manipur by some Kacha Naga groups to support their baseless claims of cannibalism by the #Kuki-Zo people. This is a cheap and malicious attempt to vilify an entire community. A humanitarian gesture of serving them decent food has been twisted into a disgusting narrative aimed at targeting one community. This must stop.
It reflects deep-seated resentment and unprovoked animosity towards Kuki people among those promoting such misinformation. This illustrates the scale of the misinformation campaigns that the Kuki-Zo people of Manipur have had to endure and painstakingly debunk.

LEILON VAIPHEI BOMBED: GOVERNMENT MUST TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION
SHTH/PR/2026/07: Sadar Hills Tahchapa Ho (SHTH) strongly condemns the bombing incident that occurred at Leilon Vaiphei on 15 June 2026, allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM and its proxy outfit ZUF-K terrorists. This heinous act has endangered innocent lives, created fear among the people, and threatened peace and security in the region.
Such attacks against civilians are unacceptable and cannot be justified under any circumstances. The people of Leilon Vaiphei and the surrounding areas deserve to live in peace and safety without fear of violence and intimidation.
SHTH expresses deep concern over the recurring incidents of violence that continue to disrupt normal life and undermine efforts toward peace and communal harmony. The continued operation of armed groups with apparent impunity has caused anxiety and uncertainty among the public.
The Government of India, the Government of Manipur, and all concerned security agencies are urged to take immediate and decisive action against those responsible for this attack. The perpetrators must be identified, arrested, and brought to justice without delay.
SHTH further calls upon the authorities to strengthen security measures in vulnerable areas to ensure the safety of civilians and prevent any recurrence of such incidents. Justice delayed will only encourage further acts of violence and erode public confidence in the rule of law.
The statement says the people of Sadar Hills and the wider Kuki community have consistently stood for peace, coexistence, and the rule of law. Acts of terror and violence directed against innocent civilians not only threaten lives and property but also undermine ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and stability in the region. Such incidents create fear among women, children, and elderly citizens who simply wish to live in safety and dignity.
SHTH also urges all responsible organizations, civil society groups, community leaders, and public representatives to collectively condemn such acts of violence and support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and communal harmony. At this critical juncture, unity among the people and a firm commitment to justice are essential for preventing further escalation of tensions.
The Government is appealed to ensure adequate compensation and assistance for all affected families and to take proactive measures to safeguard vulnerable villages and settlements. The safety and security of the people must remain a top priority, and every effort should be made to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
SHTH stands in solidarity with the people of Leilon Vaiphei and extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by this unfortunate incident. The statement reaffirms commitment to peace, justice, and the protection of the rights and security of all communities.
