Narrabri lost its 113-year-old newspaper today.
On the final pages: Inland Rail cut north of Parkes, more water buybacks, gas policy uncertainty. And that’s just this week.
Bit by bit, rural Australia isn’t being shut down dramatically — it’s being quietly managed into decline.
Sarah Ferguson stumps Susan McDonald revealing a pathetic $9M in tax for gas giants despite a huge $40B jump in receipts from the Ukraine war💥
McDonald says it’s complex but fair.🙄
In what world is $9M on $40B fair? One where gas corps write the rules, & the donation checks.💰
Appalled but not surprised to see govt caving to the gas companies.
This just makes me more determined to go harder on our campaign to get a fair return on our gas through a 25% tax on gas export revenue.

@matt_norrie Completely agree - communities need to start pushing back collectively and saying you talk to all of us at once or you don’t talk to us at all…
...another "drop in session"...i.e. let us split you all up and make it hard for your collective voices to be heard: Community voices concerns at Boree Solar Farm consultation meeting | Daily Telegraph
Imagine being the bloke who is arguing with Kristy Sparrow - the person who literally runs a support, advisory and advocacy group for rural, regional and remote telecommunications AND is using chatGPT to try & prove his point. The audacity. 😡
Pauline Hanson in a trainwreck crucified on Ch10 after claiming it’s cost $300m to pursue Ben Roberts-Smith, then refusing to name her source🙄
“That’s not accurate — the entire budget of the office of the special investigator in its existence is $261m for 53 investigations”🔥💥
ACCC - where you at?
Hearing farcical and egregious numbers now from some opportunistic transport operators.
One on a hay job could only be explained if diesel was about $8/L!
Not all, not majority, but some operators.
Fo those not clear why theres such a strong response from NSW Farmer's Association?
Its because food isnt prioritized here! https://t.co/qxcfNZboek
Thats pretty bloody inexcusable. And we dont need a lot but what we do is essential to your belly being full #auspol
@tomchesson01 Yep - or my other favourite - get a community organisation/NFP to pull it all together for you and contact all the relevant stakeholders...then turn up for your bit. It we are really lucky CWA might get asked to cater - so special....lol
This is happening more and more - the new divide and conquer technique from the "community consultation" playbook. Not just on water, energy, large developments, basically anything where there is strong community sentiment on an issue...
@tomchesson01@NSWDCCEEW_Water@RoyBarwon@RoseBJackson@HSouthwellmedia Exactly what happened Tom. Respectfully we asked for a group meeting rather than the one on one speed dating discussion they had set up. They said they felt threatened as the room was too small (that they booked).
They have wasted $9 million dollars not listening. & still not
Australian agriculture eclipsed $100 Billion last year.
Don't expect it to happen again this year unless someone in government grows a spine very quickly and uses the powers they already have to direct diesel onto farms very soon
