What could we gain if we took a *new perspective* on self-control and considered *pleasure* as part of the solution to many problems? 🤔
New paper out on ‚pleasureful self-control’ with the fantastic @DanielaVBecker, Aiste Guobyte and Daniel Ganama 🥳

It was exciting to try and help think about a common framework with colleagues from cog control, decision making, self control, social and moral cognition, initiated and led by @DanielaVBecker & David Dignath. I learned a lot! Now summarized in this paper: https://t.co/z1fcV5mEZf

Alcohol (over)consumption is not only a matter of too little control, but also a matter of too little pleasure (hedonic capacity). We think this is an important finding as it opens up new ideas for treatment. @KathaBernecker

Can low hedonic capacity lead to overconsumption? Amazing talks by @DanielaVBecker & colleagues on pursuing experiences of pleasure and enjoyment as important factors to our well-being! I will surely be serious about integrating more play in my life #easp2023krk
If this sounds interesting to you and you happen to be at @easp2023krk, join our symposium on the role of pleasure in self-regulation (sat 1. July 14:30 “beyond self-control”) #easp2023#pleasure
Pursuing pleasure is usually seen as the problem - but can it not also be part of good self-regulation (and if so, how??)? @KathaBernecker and I make a case for the latter here: https://t.co/aRASVRWVQS
