1) Hit-and-run in San Francisco hurls pedestrian into the air, tossing her onto path of oncoming driverless Cruise car, which then runs her over.
Officials couldn't find witnesses, but Cruise car had cameras rolling.
I got access to the video. Here's what I saw.

When companies want to reassure people about their AI product, they know the best way is to take responsibility for its output.
Meanwhile, @Cruise, @Waymo, @theavindustry, @autosinnovate are fighting for immunity when they kill people. Really inspires confidence in AVs.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito took a luxury fishing trip to Alaska with billionaire Paul Singer, whose hedge fund then had repeated business before SCOTUS over the years that followed.
Alito never disclosed the trip or recused himself from Singer's cases. (THREAD)
Check out our new study: "Nuclear Fizzle: How Jury Grievance Reports Whitewash Corporate Misconduct and Dehumanize Victims." When corporations lose cases, they dehumanize the people they’ve hurt, and mock jurors. It’s disgusting, and we’re fighting back! https://t.co/7cIjymvISZ
Goldman Sachs will pay $215 million to settle a years-long class action lawsuit that claimed the bank discriminated against women when it came to pay, performance evaluations and promotions. Filed in 2010, the lawsuit was set to go to trial next month. https://t.co/cCX8e0LT2K

#CFA's research found that #NY drivers w/ a perfect driving record + excellent credit pay $730 a year for basic insurance. A driver with the same driving record + poor credit pay almost $2,100. That's auto #insurancediscrimination.

Me: I live in a world where people think we should kill other people who annoy us
Hobbes: On no. Sounds like you live in the State of Nature. The solution to that is authoritarianism.
Me: You say that, but in my world the authoritarians ALSO support vigilante justice
Hobbes: Wut?
The plot thickens on Johnson & Johnson's 2d attempt to use #bankruptcy to bail itself out of its #talc mess.
The U.S. Trustee has joined advocates for cancer victims in asking the judge to dismiss J&J's "bad faith" bankruptcy case.

DoNotPay, Inc (whose mission includes "to help consumers fight against large corporations" and "to level the playing field," and which has previously flagged arbitration clauses to help consumers get out of them) has now filed for arbitration in the consumer lawsuit against it.

Goldcollarlavish is really taking the FSD beta testing to new heights 🤣
Notice the dumbbell in the driver seat. The driver monitoring is a joke.

ADS developers should be responsible for the driving behaviors of their vehicles. They won't become *better* drivers if we let them off the hook.
To accomplish this, our laws should acknowledge them *as the driver* so we can hold them accountable for driving related errors.
On March 23, Cruise committed a "driving" error and crashed into the back of a city bus in San Francisco.
On April 4, Cruises CEO blamed car crashes on "human" error.
This is deeply disingenuous doublespeak. Let me show you why. 🧵
Cruise, and everyone else in the AV industry, is lobbying to write rules that allow them to avoid responsibility for *driving* an automated vehicle.
If we crash into a bus, we get a ticket or face a claim for negligent driving. Cruise is fighting to avoid this responsibility.
