the craziest thing about using AIs is that the job didn't get easier, just one part of it. Now it's more time on thinking and less on coding, but the job isn't easier. The thinking: problem solving, designing, prioritizing, managing... that's the whole job now.
Some people are naturally drawn to making computers do stuff, they're already coding. AI is leverage
There's a small group of dabblers or dev adjacent folks that will join in too
AI grows the dev pool, but only a bit
You still need that core itch to build
// great convo thread
@jmdagdelen I think they had dabbled very lightly, like maybe built a blender script by copy and pasting, but never really programmed.
Programming requires a ton of effort to do ANYTHING. It's a very steep learning curve IMO. Just not worth it for most people.
I might be the best use case for AI.
I have a reasonable amount of dev experience, am reasonably intelligent, curious and into active learning.
I've never learned more and accomplished more technically than I have in the last 12 months.
@p_millerd High salary people in tech, finance, exec enterprise roles often live pretty disconnected from real life.
I have a friend making 400k+ a year, wants to start a startup but needs millions in day one funding because he can't imagine paying himself something like 100k a year.
Most of you will say "who the hell needs this?" But like 5% of you will say "where has this been my whole life?"
The Reverse Scheduler app I've been building is about to kick off alpha testing π. This tool for Google Calendar helps you plan *backwards* from big events (flights, parties, etc). Make a simple itinerary with what needs to be done, and how long it will take, no last-minute chaos.

@TheWireWhiz Hmmmm... what would be the car?
I kinda see AR glasses as a phone replacement and stepping stone to VR for a lot of people. Like how most gamers are moms playing candy crush, but that benefits the whole gaming industry... My theory is most XR users will be AR glasses normies
