Dr. @SabihaBaloch_’s powerful letter to her abducted father broke my heart and gave me hope at the same time.

No daughter should have to be so brave and no father should be kept hostage to pressurise an activist to surrender her right to expression. But the State of Pakistan is ruthless and cruel - it uses families as bargaining tools to further oppress those who have only witnessed blood and tears for decades.

The strength it takes to not just say what she said but stand by her words in practice despite the agony she must feel should remind us all - there are things (ideas, principles, convictions) bigger than us; there are things worth fighting for no matter what the cost.

Easier said than done.

Those doing it are nothing short of heroes.

We, the Baloch, do not view cases of enforced disappearances merely as isolated criminal acts, but as part of a broader policy of Baloch genocide. The recent surge in the enforced disappearances of children is clear evidence of this ongoing oppression.

No one has the right to harm or target children in any conflict or war. Since the beginning of 2025, 42 Baloch minors, under the age of 18, have been forcibly disappeared, with a noticeable spike in such incidents during the month of May.

We urge national and international human rights organizations to raise their voices against this grave injustice and take immediate and effective action to ensure justice for the affected families.
