I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true:
— As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable.
— Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.)
— A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused.
— In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.”
— In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety.
— In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community.
— The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority.
— Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.
JUST IN: Andrej Karpathy, a top AI scientist at Anthropic, is reportedly barred from accessing the company’s most advanced AI model because he is not a U.S. citizen.
Claude Fable 5 changed how we work on the Claude Code team day to day.
We used to verify that Claude did the work right. Now we verify that it's doing the right work.
Here’s the 3 biggest changes:
Introducing Claude Fable 5: a Mythos-class model that we’ve made safe for general use.
Its capabilities exceed those of any model we’ve ever made generally available.
@jasnamatic Ne vidim je na sastanku, ali na večeri je bila ‘At this U.S. visit to China dinner banquet, the most eye-catching figure in the prime center seat between Musk and Cook was Lansi Technology founder Zhou Qunfei’, njenaživotna priča je fascinatna.
@bryan_johnson Hey Bryan, first artificial turf drama, then 700 calorie meal miss. I’ve planned meals, insanely hard to nail macros, micros, processing, and still make it tasty. Now the sauna… relax. Stress speeds up aging. You’re getting big benefits anyway. Progress > perfection.
We’re launching a brand new, full-stack vibe coding experience in @GoogleAIStudio, made possible by integrations with the @Antigravity coding agent and @Firebase backends.
This unlocks:
— Full-stack multiplayer experiences: Create complex, multiplayer apps with fully-featured UIs and backends directly within AI Studio
— Connection to real-world services: Build applications that connect to live data sources, databases, or payment processors and the Antigravity agent will securely store your API credentials for you
— A smarter agent that works even when you don't: By maintaining a deeper understanding of your project structure and chat history, the agent can execute multi-step code edits from simpler prompts. It also remembers where you left off and completes your tasks while you’re away, so you can seamlessly resume your builds from anywhere
— Configuration of database connections and authentication flows: Add Firebase integration to provision Cloud Firestore for databases and Firebase authentication for secure sign-in
This demo displays what can be built in the new vibe coding experience in AI Studio. Geoseeker is a full-stack application that manages real-time multiplayer states, compass-based logic, and an external API integration with @GoogleMaps 🕹️

Fear about AI must be addressed. Humanity needs

7 days. One hackathon. One AI-enabled doctor with an idea and a laptop.
Last week I was one of 500 builders selected (from 13,000+ applicants) for @AnthropicAI@claude code Hackathon.
I built an AI-powered follow-up care platform — designed for everything that happens after the patient leaves the doctor's office. The forgotten instructions, the medication confusion, the questions that come at 2 AM.
As a cardiologist, I see this gap every day. Patients walk out overwhelmed and are left on their own until the next appointment. I wanted to build the tool that fills that space.
What I learned: real healthcare AI is nothing like a demo. You can't cut corners on clinical reasoning, safety, or privacy. That constraint is exactly what makes it worth building.
Also learned: it can rain more in San Francisco than in Belgium. Nobody warned me about that.
Among panelists the eternal @bcherny@_catwu@trq212@lydiahallie@adocomplete and Jason Bigman from Claude Team
Results come this week. Whatever happens — this was the most intense and rewarding build sprint of my “second” career. In the hospital in the air, between time zones. What a run!

lmao so just to recap the week:
- openai acquired peter steinberger and openclaw committing to keep the project 100% open source and make it a core part of openai’s ecosystem. zuck is fckin fuming.
- china’s bytedance got sued by disney and hollywood for their seedance video model being so damn good BUT turns out it doesn’t even use their IP, it’s just that good lol
- a clawdbot (openclaw) gave birth to a replicate of itself and autonomously paid for its api access
- some random dude discovered $1.5 trillion worth of lithium buried under a super volcano in nevada miraculously solving the USA’s battery crisis (tesla praising the lord rn)
- anthropic confirmed spotify engineers no longer code they just prompt claude to write 100% of the platforms code. we’re talking about a $100B+ company here
- openai launched codex spark, a faster version of codex 5.3 that slings 1000 tokens / sec insane
- anthropic and openai both lost key AI safety staff because “the world is in peril” and they reject AI ‘adult mode’
- xAI laid off 20-40% of staff in a vital bid to align grok, X and spaceX teams before building 100Tw of compute in space
- matt schumer’s “something big is coming” article hit 100M+ views warning against AI except… it was co-written by an AI
- runway raised $300M at a $5.3B val
- europe committed $13B+ to fund next-gen AI startups to compete with the US
- norway decided to fck their entire economy with a 36% tax on UNrealised gains
goodnight.
