Six Palestinian children have died from hypothermia in Gaza this winter, according to a spokesperson for UNICEF, underscoring the continued collapse of living conditions despite a ceasefire.

Speaking from Gaza, UNICEF spokesperson James Elder said more than 100 children have been killed since the ceasefire took effect, mostly due to Israeli military action, including airstrikes, drone strikes, tank shelling, and live fire.

He warned that “life in Gaza remains suffocating” and that children’s survival is still conditional.

UNICEF said confirmed figures show at least 60 boys and 40 girls killed since the ceasefire, noting the real toll is likely higher due to under-reporting.

While limited humanitarian gains have been made, Elder said the ceasefire remains insufficient as children continue to die.
