Tourists from Israel and Russia are exploiting Sri Lankan tourism by running businesses in Arugam Bay and the Deep South, bypassing local regulations & displacing local ownership.

This is not a new issue and the industry has been trying to get the authorities to take this seriously for sometime.

The US Embassy's warning of an imminent attack on Arugam Bay now makes this a serious security threat now.

The new administration must take immediate action to address both the economic & security risks. Failure to do so could jeopardise the hard won gains in tourism, crucial for Sri Lanka's ongoing economic recovery.
