@IslesFix Oh, no doubt. My point was only that it's not about investing in a highly touted coach - it's about the right coach for the team. Sutter in CGY, Lavy in NY, Totes in PHI - all night investments that failed miserably
@datadomNY George - blew it, for now
Aitcheson - almost but not quite
Mayfield - terrible
Stanley - try something different
And if it causes some discord? Good. A room needs *some* discomfort, some conflict. They don't need to sing kumbaya. They need to win.
@HydroToque@JFreshHockey I'd say this is much more true now than 4 or 5 years ago. I think most of you have been beaten down by disappointment over the last several seasons
@DailyFaceoff@JLazzy23@Rupper17@bet365ca Love the show guys!
Everything I heard and read makes me doubt he'd be a fit for the #Isles or DeBoer. They can afford a 1yr prove it deal, but I'm sure Laine would get a better offer elsewhere
@Wew424Only@IslesGirl3 And if he did, it would be exhibit 1A as to why it would be right to NOT make him Captain. Not that any of this is even a possibility, but that would be incredibly selfish. A Captain must put the team first. Storming off like a child because he didn't get named Captain? Really?
@IslesTerritory Too conditional for an easy answer
Buy if the price is right (not trading Aitcheson or Eklund)
If I don't buy, then I see if someone overpays for one of Lee or Pageau
If neither of those happen, I'm ok with standing pat
@Matt_4488 Ignoring all the other reasons why this would never happen - he also doesn't fit the style of play that the isles play. He's also not fast enough to play their style. From a strictly hockey standpoint, I don't think it's a good fit. And, as you said it would never happen anyway
