ICYMI, the US Atty for the Southern District of NY now asserts as a fact in a criminal indictment (p 10) that “Free Palestine” “refers to Hamas's explicit goal of destroying the State of Israel and establishing an Arab-Muslim nation state in its place under Sharia law.”
🚨 A Haaretz investigation reveals a group of American Jews have poured millions into Israel in a bid to put the Settler-messianic elite in control of Israel's security.
Their goal is expelling hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and prepare for ongoing regional confrontations.
One of their protégés, David Zini, is now head of the Shin Bet. @haaretzcom

Today’s @haaretzcom report is an earthquake for a number of reasons. 1 @shlomieldar literally wrote the book on Hamas and Israel and his sourcing is impeccable. 2. We’ve had several reports of Netanyahu being warned of an impending attack but this was specifically about Sinwar >
WOW!
Haaretz investigation is a MUST-READ!
The Netanyahu gov received numerous warnings - incl from the UAE's ruler 10 days before Oct 7 - that Hamas was planning an attack.
The ultimate source of the warning was Hamas' own Sinwar.
Netanyahu ignored all the warnings and took no precautions. He didn't even convey it to the Israeli intelligence apparatus.
But there's more. Immediately after Oct 7, Hamas offered to release all the civilian hostages - without asking for anything in return. The Biden admin was aware of this as well. But Israel wasn't interested, leaving both Hamas and the Qatari mediators baffled.
So much bloodshed could have been avoided. So many innocent lives could have been spared. But Netanyahu appeared to have been uninterested - and Biden, of course, never put any real pressure on Israel - effectively allowing Netanyahu to determine US policy.

Very naive claim here. The last 30 years have repeatedly tested this proposition in the W Bank, where the PA works closely w/ Israeli security. In return Palestinians received more, worse occupation. No reason to believe it would work differently in Gaza.

It’s Not Just the West Bank Settlers. It’s Israel.
(And it's not just Netanyahu. It's Israel).
"The phenomenon of settlement expansion and terror did not begin with the current Israeli government and, in all likelihood, will not end with it. Settler militias clearly act with state backing in the service of a greater national project that is largely uncontested in Israel: Israel’s permanent control over much of the West Bank. A recent poll found that 55 percent of Israeli Jews want to keep settlements in any future agreement with the Palestinians, while 38 percent support annexation of the West Bank."

@AhmedMoor@alexbkane Great conversation. Thank you. Just FYI, the Pod Save the World guys have consistently dealt with the Gaza genocide and the brutal occupation of the WB. Not every week, but quite often. Go back and check it out.
For decades, B’Tselem has documented violence, demolitions, displacement and the dispossession of Palestinians from their land in the West Bank.
Raj’in (“We Shall Return”) brings this documentation work into a new medium.
Co-created by Faiz Abu Rmeleh and Keren Manor and co-produced by B’Tselem and NowHere Media, the film, which is currently being screened as part of the Venice International Film Festival, was shot with 360° cameras and also incorporates footage filmed by Palestinian residents and protective presence activists. Through virtual reality, it places viewers inside the spaces where Palestinian shepherding communities in the West Bank face Israeli violence, demolitions and displacement from their land.
Since October 2023, 65 Palestinian communities have been entirely forcibly displaced, while another 18 have been partially displaced. More than 4,861 people have been driven from their homes and land, including at least 2,315 children.

Es kommt nicht mal mehr die übliche zionistische Propaganda über Hamas-Krankenhäuser und Hauptquartiere im Keller, weil es einfach niemanden im Mainstream interessiert. Völlige Straflosigkeit.
An Israeli human rights organization is begging the international community to intervene and stop its own government's violence. It's not a position they've taken lightly. For many decades, @btselem advocated for the Israeli government to hold itself accountable, investigate, punish etc. They now recognize that it is beyond reform.

Urgent call to the international community to take immediate action to stop Israel's violence and prevent pogroms by settler militias and the Israeli army across the West Bank.
In recent days, violence by settler militias, enabled and supported by the Israeli army, has escalated across the West Bank, including the torching and destruction of Palestinian property, and the forced expulsion of families and communities. These attacks have been met with silence and inaction from much of the international community, allowing the violence to continue and intensify.
Today's event in the village of Tell (Area B) when a settlers' "tour" in the village ended with the killing of at least 4 Palestinians and 1 settler and several people injured is leading to escalated violence in the area with settlers, ministers, and Knesset members calling for further revenge attacks which already started across the West Bank. Experience shows that these events can escalate quickly into mass pogroms when met with silence.
We call the international community to act now. Immediate pressure must be placed on Israel to stop further attacks, prevent pogroms and further killings, and ensure the protection of Palestinians, in accordance with Israel's obligations under international law.

From the top story on Haaretz right now: "The West Bank is at its most dangerous point in years. And there are people in Israel's government who see that not as a threat, but as an opportunity." These lunatics need to be stopped. Only the US can stop them, and it won't. Madness.
