agi will kill the “average person”
for most of history, kids wanted to grow up and fit in. if you are too different from the tribe - you’ll get kicked out.
but American history has shown us that it is often those who are the most different - the misfits - who actually bring meaningful change into the world.
this is especially true in the age of AI, where the average is seen as synthetic and the outlier is seen as authentic.
the machine can
write an “average” email.
make an “average” movie.
tell an “average” story.
but it never met you, the real you.
suddenly expressing your anger, your frustration, the burning passion in your heart is what sets you apart from a machine that is built to be numb.
if you are average, and you “fit in” then you are no different from a matrix algorithm built to simulate your existence. you must venture past the comforts of the “average” to grow into your true self.
If you are able to remain calm & peaceful while other people freak out they will often ramp up projection and do all in their power to get you to not stay calm. Most people are deeply addicted to chaos. The value in not reflecting people’s negative emotions back to them no matter how annoyed they get is tremendous. This is my nervous system, buddy!
Control over your nervous system also allows you to be more playful & creative in general. Frees up energy that would otherwise be spent on defense.

the whole point is that you're not supposed to require it, it's supposed to just happen
if it happens, then you have a winning culture - the people really care
if you have to require and enforce it, you'll get mediocre performance from performative employees
