The U.S. Treasury just issued a new license, "General License X," that reopens Iran's oil (including petrochemicals) business to the world. Here's what it lets Iran do, and why each piece matters.

1/3 It lets Iran produce, ship, and sell its oil — not just unload what's already at sea, but keep the whole operation running. The previous license was much more narrow in scope and only covered tankers already loaded during a certain period.

The biggest piece: the money flows back to Tehran. The license explicitly allows buyers to pay Iran — including the Iranian government and blacklisted Iranian entities — directly for the oil. This isn't just permission to sell. It's permission to get paid.

And the payments can be made in U.S. dollars. The dollar is the backbone of global finance, and Iran has been largely locked out of it for years. Handing the regime dollar revenue restores access that sanctions were specifically designed to deny.

On this day — June 22, 1941 — the “Holocaust by Bullets” began.

Hitler launched Operation Barbarossa, the massive invasion of the Soviet Union. Even before German troops crossed the border, the orders went out: follow the Wehrmacht and murder every Jew you can find.

Reinhard Heydrich briefed the commanders of the four SS Einsatzgruppen (A, B, C, and D). Their mission was not combat. It was extermination. They were to liquidate Jews on the spot — village after village, town after town.

The killing started immediately.

Jews were dragged from their homes, forced to dig their own graves, and shot. Men first. Then, from mid-August 1941 onward — on Hitler’s explicit orders via Himmler — women and children too. Entire communities were wiped out.

By the end of 1941, the Einsatzgruppen and Order Police had murdered roughly 700,000 Jews. By war’s end, the total reached between 1.5 and 2 million.

The brutality was beyond words.

In Virbalis, machine-gunned adults were thrown into pits. Jewish children were seized by the ankles, their heads smashed against walls and roads. Many were buried alive. Babies were torn from mothers’ arms and shot or beaten to death. Families were forced to watch their loved ones die before their own turn came. Victims were often stripped naked and made to lie in the graves while the next group was shot on top of them.

Local antisemites in Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, and elsewhere frequently joined in enthusiastically. In places like Jedwabne, Poles burned hundreds of Jews alive in a barn.

This was industrialized genocide with pistols, machine guns, and shovels — the deliberate, total physical elimination of the Jewish people in the East.

When people picture the Holocaust, they think of gas chambers at Auschwitz. But the systematic annihilation of the Jews began here — with bullets in the pits and ravines of the East.

And the Allies knew almost immediately. British codebreakers at Bletchley Park were reading the Germans’ own reports in real time. They had precise tallies of Jews murdered in specific towns. Yet they said almost nothing publicly and never treated saving Jews as a military priority.

This is why Jews do not take threats of annihilation lightly.

And why, now that we have a state of our own, we will never again rely on others to decide whether we are allowed to live.

The IDF said it has confiscated more than 240 firearms and other weapons in the West Bank since the start of 2026, including guns, ammunition, weapon-manufacturing equipment, and other terrorism-related materials.

The military highlighted cases in Bethlehem, where ammunition was allegedly hidden inside a hardware store, and in Nablus, where troops discovered a weapons-production lathe inside a civilian building.

According to the IDF, these findings demonstrate efforts by Palestinian terrorist groups to operate within civilian areas and use civilian infrastructure to support their activities.
