@katemillercny @DrKateJMiller @katemiller_kate @pinsnfeathers @DrKate_Miller One of my primary school reports genuinely said "she talks too much in class but somehow manages to get the work done". Still true today...
๐ข We are excited to launch a new project, led by @OlivetteOtele and funded by @UKRI_News
which will work with communities in Bristol to build a fuller understanding of how the cityโs legacy of transatlantic slavery is still impacting on society today.

@ProfMadhuK My cat Tosh got the feline version of HIV (FIV?), and got run over by a car, having to have his tail amputated twice (impressive for only one tail). He pulled through both times and lived many years after. 20 years ago so no digital pics to add. Fingers crossed...
@ResChangeNow@HFeatherstone @mackenwells @EngagementDom @Kimberley__F @MCHallsworth @a_n_s @NCCPE @JamieBGall@AlisonCrowther There are so many things to pick up on here (which may be the subject for future tweets). But it's important to acknowledge the value of any document that is happy to describe things as "pants" (because they are)!
@EngagementDom It's times like this that make me wish our team still had responsibility for engaged learning. At least colleagues like @htwed and @IrishAshyT are fighting that good fight!
Because I like to accessorise my toddler's books with inspirational quotes, as crafted by the wonderful @ScienceOnA (may have bought some stuff for me too). And thanks to @hapsci for inadvertently making this happen.
@ScienceArtReach@gracehelen84@dsmith_edi @EngagementDom @kenskeldon I think the quote without the context is doing @rpwatermeyer a disservice. He's arguing that we PEPs aren't being allowed the structure and agency to change unis, but are being marginalised. Not that we're incapable or incompetent! I hope...๐
Got my (virtual) highlighter out for this paper. Some relevant nuggets include: "the professional era of
PE has largely failed to correct cultural bias or mobilised [โฆ] an attitudinal shift towards its undertaking or leadership within universities"
And that there has been a focus on embedding PE by changing academic culture but this focus needs reorienting to the structure of PE within universities. Not culture change but organisational change. Interesting...
Also PE professionals "appear to lack the structure
and agency and, analogously, the academic and economic capital necessary for meaningful and affective institutional leadership". How do we feel about that @gracehelen84@ScienceArtReach@dsmith_edi @EngagementDom @kenskeldon?
@DrKateJMiller @DrKate_Miller @katemillercny Feel a bit guilty for being such a sporadic tweeter. Perhaps it's an incentive to do more, for sister solidarity!
An insurgency of engagement peeps met today to review all 21 #ResearchRevolution manifestos created by 80 delegates @NCCPE Engage conference (thank u to those that contributed) & discuss what the final draft (Wo)manifesto could look like. What do we want? So so many things! โ
"Public discourse is fractured and fractious". A depressing and bleak summary of world challenges to start #Engage2019. And frankly, it's needed. Insular is no longer an option.
