@jaeporeon The fact that so few cis people even registered the "hyde amendment for trans healthcare" line shows both how unnecessary it was as a concession and that cis democrats have no sense of the material needs of the trans members of the coalition.
@chertz Everyone who believes we should ban foie gras for ethical reasons I expect to see marching on the street demanding we replace all drivers with self driving cars which would save far more HUMAN lives
i almost prefer the person who openly makes the calculus and says “fuck you, we don’t want your votes, we’d rather pick up exurban parents” than the one who demands our votes and then stabs us in the back by calling for a hyde act for our healthcare.
Some things are outside of their control, but they also often interpret women's attraction to "chad" traits in the most uncharitable way possible. This builds resentment to the point that they cannot stand to even try embodying those traits.
@stanfordNYC@AndyMasley Many documentaries include re-enaction of described events. tAoK just makes the creation of these part of the text and theming.
@woke8yearold I always felt it was mildly underdiscussed that sam's vision for AGI essentially amounted to "everyone gets their own startup" and dario's was "we start and win world war 3"
literal hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation
the real top regret people have when they’re dying is unknowable. they probably only realise their real biggest regret when theres not enough time left to say it. it’s probably something like ‘I wish I experienced taking the life of another human being’
YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING: 12/10
It’s not a documentary, it's a magic trick. You know you're getting fooled, you just don't know how.
Also: the entire theatre did this midway through the movie. I’ve never seen 150 people shift in their seats at the exact same time.
The funniest part of all the "hit dog hollering" negative reviews of Digger is that they claim it's Iñárritu at his most smug and holier-than-thou, when it seems inarguable to me that it's the most humbled and full of self-dobut he's ever been.
@modumdoll I think this kind of tension is really helpful for creative partnership, and something similar can drive close relationships of other types: Two people, largely aligned on what they are creating together, but with crucial, maybe irresolvable disagreements.
@modumdoll In each case, the two parties are creatively generative while seemingly disagreeing in important ways about the nature of what they are producing, and each other's role within it.
