Earlier mentions appear from the 5th century in Jerusalem, but no unbroken chain links it to 33 AD. The circlet consists of Juncus balticus rushes native to northern Europe, not the Holy Land. No scientific tests confirm a 1st-century origin. Authenticity is unprovable; historical and botanical evidence makes the odds of it being the exact crown worn by Jesus extremely low.

Nice try, but oral tradition only gets validated when the evidence supports it. The simple fact of the "crown" being constructed of thorns from more than a thousand miles away and clearly no provenance before 1239 (the 5th century mentions may have been another "crown of thorns") tells us this is another Catholic lie, right up there with wood from the cross.

The RCC has a long history of fabricating relics and miracles to support those relics, which is exactly what you would expect from a cult.
