I lost one of my best friends a few days ago. He was stubborn, a royal pain in the ass, and knew exactly how to get under my skin—and I loved him for it. I didn’t spend enough time with him, and now I wish I had. Life goes on, as it always does, but there’s a hole in my heart—another name added to the list of those I’ve lost. My parents, my brother-in-law, and now Paolo.

If he were here, he’d tell us to quit sulking, brush it off, and keep moving forward. “It is what it is,” he’d say, refusing to let us dwell. So that’s what I’ll try to do. Rest easy, my friend.

I was in the grocery store today and the man in front of me… his card kept declining. He had two kids with him and they were slowly putting their items back one by one.
