As the fall semester nears, we're thrilled to introduce Andrea Lopez Lang and Dave Henderson to our faculty. Learn more about these exceptional scientists, and join us in giving them a warm Wisconsin welcome!

Oh, brave little cloud, so bright against the wide, blue lake. How is it that you persi—wait! Oh ... OK. Never mind.
Thanks for the fleeting glimpse, @UWCIMSS.

More #AuroraBorealis action overnight. This view from the #Suomi-NPP satellite, on the job since 2011. Named after CIMSS founder, Verner Suomi, NPP is a joint mission between NOAA and NASA to monitor Earth including these unique low-light nighttime scenes. https://t.co/0OWRnZaRXU
Come work for us at @UW_AOS and @uwgeoscience and Environmental Sci. We need an undergraduate advisor. Help shape atmso/geosci student college experience and lives! DM for any qs. https://t.co/ZM0aBU21rA
Did you see the #LunarEclipse? 🌕🌸
As it passed over the Atlantic Ocean and South America overnight, the @NOAA/NASA #SuomiNPP satellite caught the reduction in reflected moonlight over the region as the Earth's shadow darkened the full moon's brightness.
Southern Wisconsin is in a snow drought. How bad is it? This week the @UWMadison Weather Guys take a deep dive using historical #Madison winter stats for perspective. https://t.co/vxrx5TZMj7 #WIwx#swiwx
Two tiny instruments may make forecasting Earth’s weather more cost effective and precise. COWVR and TEMPEST launched to the @Space_Station in December and recently completed their first global weather maps! https://t.co/a5nty11pnQ
Around the time that Super Typhoon #Surigae had reached its peak intensity (a few hours before sunrise), a #SuomiNPP#VIIRS Day/Night Bad image revealed concentric mesospherc airglow waves propagating outward from the energetic Category 5 storm: https://t.co/DITnpzwpqS
Since #EarthDay is next week, we wanted to share this very special painting for #FullDiskFriday.
Commissioned in 1954 by Dr. Harry Wexler, a meteorologist with the U.S. Weather Bureau, it imagined what a satellite might "see” from orbit—before the first one was ever launched.
Wisconsin spring has started unseasonably cold, to unseasonably hot, and back to unseasonably cold. I would like normal seasonably please. #WIwx ...almost there...
#GOESEast Day Cloud Phase distinction RGB provides excellent perspective on cloud heights & direction over the northeast U.S. & Atlantic Ocean today. Note also disappearing "green" near the #GreatLakes as snow melts rapidly under the warm spring sun. ☀️

Today's a great example of lake effect clouds, as shown to our east over Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. The clouds you see stretched over lower Michigan result from the relatively colder air flowing over the waters of the Great Lakes. #wiwx
